Anyone in the Patong area swing by Irish Bar? If one is heading out Bangla towards the beach, it's on Beach Road, off to the right, on the side away from the beach. Maybe 3-4 blocks down.
The place opens pretty early. I figure the bartender, Noi, was setting up bar right around the 9-9:30 timeframe, as I was often in there drinking at 10.
At least there were buildings between it and the sea. But still. She isn't responding to her cell phone.

that's a new one on me 
When I was there (a long while ago) there was nothing but beach chairs between Irish Bar and the ocean
doesn't sound like they've moved either, beach road, 3-4 blocks down

I carefully rode by the Irish bar on Sunday night and there was debris and sand everywhere. The bar itself appeared OK but anyone in it at the time would no doubt have been swept up somewhere by the force of the water.
If anyone knows the money exchange that was about 100m north of that area, well it was on the opposite side of the street when I went past.

I remember the Irish bar being on the side of the Beach road away from the beach, but I was usually pissed at the time

if you walk down Bangla towards the beach and then turn left you would see many buildings between beach rd and the beach.
many hotels which I imagine have been decimated now.

I am more depressed than ever about it now.
The Sunset Beach Resort which I have come to love staying at, has been destroyed.
I am lost for words and feel helpless.
I have given some money but I just dont feel like I am helping enough.
I had planned to return later in the year, but I am not sure if I could enjoy it.
I hope those who have survived can go on to have a good life, and those that didnt find comfort in the afterlife, I hope there is one for their sakes.
