No joiner although they take id's. It is nice and close to everything. My room was clean and equipped with a safe. I stayed in April and walked in and got a rate of 1600 Baht or something close to that.

Sorry I'm a bit late adding to this subject, but i've only just registered. I stayed at the Tropica Bungalows in June 2003. There was no joiner fee on any of the 14 nights I stayed there. Perhaps that was because it was low season and also the SARS scare in other parts of Asia affected Phuket's Western tourist numbers badly. So that they were hungry for business and were therefore concerned that they did not frighten it away. It was a fabulous place, very quiet at night even though it backed onto Bangla Road and was directly on Beach Road in the centre of the resort. I stayed there for 1000 baht a night which I consider a bargain for the quality of acommodation. It had lovely gardens around the bungalows, a good swimming pool and the
Tropica Restaurant at the entrance was good for breakfast or other meals too. I made a point of asking if there was an extra charge for "guests" when I booked in. Perhaps the implication was that I might not stay there if there was an extra charge, so that if they wanted the business they had to co-operate. Incidentally, I had haggled the price down because of the 2 week stay. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone

Regarding the C&N Hotel, is there an in-room safe?
It seems not, based on the website:
"C&N Hotel provides you quality rooms with all comforts available, air conditioned, hot and cold water, refrigerator, TV with satellite system, 24 hours security guard and safety deposit box service."
But, they may simply be omitting a detail.

I can vouch for that. Took the IDs of my one nighters, which was hassle free, and they neverminded my regular tgf...
About the safe at the desk - never had a problem. 2000 Baht fee if you lose the key.
I felt secure with the C&N - I once forgot my credit card at the internet/travel shop next to the lobby. The internet lady gave it to the front desk and they gave it to me as soon as they saw me later that day. I was clueless I forgot it.

This is a good place to stay, well located and very reasonable. Highly recommended, just don't confuse it with the C & N Resort (also called Life Spa) at the far end of Patong which is a little to far away from the action!

I booked my stay at C&N hotel also. They responded within a day with a rate of 600 baht for Mid Sept.
They even have free pickup and gf. BUt I was wondering, does anyone know if there is a Safe in the room or just at the receptionist area. Is it really safe?
