This is my first post here on this excellent forum. I have contacted Salathai about room rates. They have just informed me there is a 500 baht joiner fee.

The thara Patong Poolside rooms are wonderful. The pool is closed at night but for poolside guests a quiet dip at you room area is rather nice. With the darkness and all it is no problem for a little sans bathing suit action. No Joiner fees for me here. Sala thai is a nice little place but have a look at the shower thing in the Hong Nam.....tis a Thai style spray set...In the new wing at Thara Patong you'll find a tub and shower both.

Just returned from 2 weeks holidays. Had a great time. This time stayed at Salathai. Thanks to all who suggested it. Nice and cozy. The deluxe room has bath tub and shower, though no separate shower cabin that deluxe in Thara Patong has. This is the only difference. The price for deluxe in Thara Patong is 2500, which is 400 more than in Salathai. Some deluxe rooms in Thara Patong are on 3rd floor. But all deluxe rooms in Salathai are pool level.

I just stayed there. They continue to upgrade the rooms and the superior room was just fine for my needs. No problems were had with the security and the hotel was girl friendly. You may have to pay for the ladies breakfast if you want to feed her in the morning. They have a great breakfast buffet there and my ladies sure did eat there 200 bahts worth; heaping there plates run after run. The rates are somewhat negotiable but still a bit high, especially in high season.

Just as an update in case anyone's considering the Thara Patong Beach Resort, they responded to my inquiry & said that they will charge a 1000 baht joiner fee for overnight guests that are not registered upon check-in. Too bad, cuz this hotel was perfectly located & had the level of accomodations I was looking for. I'll try the Salathai, though I've heard rumors that they charge joiner fee now as well. I'll let u guys know what they say.

Need a place from the 23rd to 27 Dec -finding a GF friendly Hotel in Patong is becoming increasingly difficult -sounds like a good biz opportunity
