After reading several of these posts, I've often wondered how good, or bad papa /mama san recommendations really are.
Are they there to genuinely help a whoremonger?
If a papa /mama san knowingly gives a bad recommendation, what benefit does he/ she get?

Or how about "rotating the stock"?
The mama/papasans want the unsuspecting newbie to take the TG that might not get selected.....that way they get their cash and they still have the best selections for the next customer; who might be more discerning.
I'm sure that some of them might be willing to help you to make sure that you will have a memorable time and want to visit their establishment again (Eden Club comes to mind here, thanks Marc!) but most bars are interested in the short money.
It seems to me that every time I have recieved a suggestion from the mamasan, it was a girl that I was not interested in. So I always thank them for their help and then choose one that I like.
If you are looking for '"special services", the mamasan may be able to tell you which girls are willing to satisfy your perversion of the day, you whoremonger! (And I say this with respect and fond memories of my own escapades.....hahaha)

My info is a dozen years old but I always had the mama/papa san make my picks for me.
I was young, and pretty much overwhelmed by the whole scene. Asked for help and was never disappointed.

However, if a girl is not liked & /or doesn't get much business, Ýwouldn't it be easier for the establisment to fire the girl, rather than inflict her upon unsuspecting newbies, who might not appreciate the girl and go elsewhere Ýfor their next whoring session? Ý

Am CERTAINLY NOT into 'special services' - ÝI detest such activities.
I use Mama /papa san recommendations mainly for one purpose; which is to direct me to a girl who can speak English. Ý Ý
Remember that a good looking lady doesn't necessarily translate into a good f_ck . My personal experience is that the not so beautiful ladies generalyy provide better f_cks' than the 'beauties'.

What did those mamasans you interacted with do? Were they instructed to direct customers one way or the other? Did they actually know about who was good or not? Or they just simply bullshitted the customers any way they wanted?

Couple of fallacies in that. If the mamasan isn't a part owner she may not give a flyer how well the bar does in the long term. And there's always another newbie.
And despite the internet most punters aren't on it. Word on a bullshit experience really does take a long time to get around. And in a lot of cases it doesn't matter anyway, case in point the rip-off bars in Patpong which survive endlessly.
Firing a girl isn't always that easy. If she's a dud but the cousin of one or two top performers she's got to be carried so the other two don't quit in solidarnosc. Even if she's ugly too she stays if the bar is thin on staff because you need filler to pad out the dance shifts. It's not a perfect economy/ecology in the scene.

Well, Vegas & Mr Joe - I certainly DETEST those 'special services' that you refer to.
My reasoning is : When there is a perfectly good pussy available , why put your dick into a shit (or other) hole? Care to fault this logic? Also, ëspecial service ë f_cks are way more unsafe than normal, pussy, f_cks-STD wise.
There are a few threads in this forum which categorize the hazards of the various f_cks known to mankind, my memory dictates that ass f_cking is the most dangerous of the lot ñespecially if a condom breaks.
Also, most girls hate ass f_cking. The lives of these women are pretty miserable already, why compound their miseries?
If you consider some knowledge of English as a special service attribute , then yes - I do subscribe to this specific, special service.
By the way , my whoring experiences have lead me to conclude that the main ingredient in a satisfactory f_ck is the ATTITUDE of the lady, not her looks.
