I had a friend tell me that it's better to use US currency in the form of one dollar bills when you exchange currency with a Thai girl. Here are the reasons he gave me, tell me if they make sense.
1. The psychological impact of US currency in large numbers (even though the bills are small). example: $35 one dollar bills verses 1500 baht
2. Confusion about currency exchange. The Thai girl might think you gave her more than you intended, or not be able to do the currency conversion in her head.
3. The Thai girl might think you are a "gullible walking ATM" since you don't even have any Thai currency yet.
What is your experience?

My experience is that there are enough games being played without having to worry about carrying two different kinds of money around.
The advantage of doing so is what? To save a dollar or two? You'll easily spend that on a new wallet after carrying around all those single bills. ;)

I think you will be lucky to find a girl who will accept US money, most of them want Baht.
It is a lot easier to give the girl B1000 (or what ever you agree on), she will be happy and hopefully you will also be happy. Best thing is you will not have a big wad of dollar bills, which get the worst exchange rate at the currency exchangers.

was a time you could give the ones just arrived from upcountry a few thousand Yen/Reil/Dong etc ... which would impress them, but think most are awake to currency rates these days !

I think if your "friend" does this as a practice with the intent to cheat the ladies that provide a service to him then your "friend" is an asshole.
I have changed money with the girls before but I always did it with a rate displayed at a currency booth or posted in the BKK post plus a commission. I make enough money where I don't have to cheat someone out af a few dollars.

Why trying to take advantage of the TGs...? One of the friends of my former LT TGF in my country once showed two Lira 1000 bills and asked me how much it was. When I gave her my reply, she was first shocked and then we both had a good laugh. What a cheap ST, but she said at least... it was a hansum man...!

In Pattaya it is 50-50 , do they take dollars.I have given talken amount in USD , when run low in baht and exchangers already close.
Always asked her if it is OK and checked rate from the board together.
Afterall , deal is a deal and it's a rat's job to cheat them with garbagemoney or similar trick.
 I got problem with types like that.

I have nothing to add to the comments about the apparent intentions behind #1 and #2 -- I find them at the least sleazy.
Just thought mention though that I think most BGs etc WILL take US currency though -- asumming that your rate of exchange is favorable to them. Indeed I happen to know many of them like it, partly for the profit margin and partly for the novelty. I know some who think of it much like they sometimes do gold. They keep it as a form of savings and they even like showing it off.
For example, if you give average BG $50 for a night she will be quite satisfied.
