Gentlemen,
I am an Old Hand at browsing Thai Dating agencies and have also had some success with using an agency in BKK. Some of you who have been on the forum for a while (Mr Joe, TPE, Nokna etc) will recall these discussions from the past.
HOWEVER:
In this context and also amongs TG's I have met I find that surprisingly often a TG will say that she is a widow and that the husband (usually "beloved") died in a CAR ACCIDENT.
This statement from single ladies comes up so often that it does not sound like an accident!. I.e. I meet this statement too many times, just as a mathematical Hunch-calculation I would say that 2 out of 5 TG's are widowed, out of which half are due to belove husbands dying in car accidents. If the population in LOS is 60 Mio souls, out if whic 30 Mio are female and the 18 - 38 age brakket makes up 30% that means that there are 9 million TG's in this age brakken I meet and if 1 in 5 has a husband who died in a car accident that meas that 1. 8 Mio men die in car accidents so we can date their wives.
1) Do you locals see all these bodies and accidents on the roads in BKK and
2) Would'n that mean that the population in LOS is overestimated?
Seriously? Can we believe the car accident-story any more than the brother in hospital or the sick water buffalo?

Well unless I'm wrong, in Thai culture girls are looked down upon if they do not marry. To save face with people they meet the BG's probably concoct this story or one like it to show that they gave it a go and it didn't work out so they were "forced" into their current profession. BUT, probably once in a while like the sick buffalo/mother the story is true.

In my Thai wife's family alone she has lost a total of 20 people in the last two years. Abeit, 13 in one single accident at 3:00 AM when two cars hit each doing about 120 KM.
I seen more motorcycle accidents than bugs hitting my windshield, so I would not hesitate to believe the numbers. Road safety is not high on the agenda here.

Hold it. If liftoff's numbers are correct, that means 1.8 million dead husbands over 20 years or 90, 000 per year. That's more than the total fatalities in all road accidents, but might be a ballpark figure for total deaths of 18-38 males.
Claiming the death as a road accident is probably more dignified than saying he drank himself to death, died of AIDS or got his skull split in a building site mishap, so maybe it's just face saving.

There was a report on the TV the other day that Bangkok suffers an average of two a day.
Phuket certainly is high, I had a friend years ago who owned Patong Big Bike, she said she could almost guarantee one a month on bikes hired from her, she ws fed up of the paperwork. Don't know if the business is still going or not, I'd certainly doubt she still owned it.
Remember over 500 died over the 3 days of Songkran yet again this year, up from last year.

thence my figure of 80 per day.
70% are in the age group of 10 - 39
4/5 are male
1/5 are female
so, chances are high.

at least this one cam from harvard.
but it was stated that these are estimates as in thailand there is no law that you have to report fatal accidents and doctors at times will issue another cause of death because of insurance and face loss reasons and blablabla.
the US had 100'000 fatal car accidents alone, due to drunk driving. so the thai figure maybe accurate.
at least most of them are blokes...
do not give bg's access to a car otherwise the figures might turn upside down.
