actually it is very consistant..... the issue is will she come back to Thailand?
What is there in LOS that will give her a reason to come back.
I worked for a Thai company and we brought over a couple of girls form LOS to work in the office here.
Yep, you guessed it, one went back, one went on the run... had immigration calling trying to track her down. And she had a Uni degree. Took about 6 months to get the proper Visa but they were fully qualified to work here.... and this was fomr a company that has sent many Thais to travel through the U.S. show trade shows, etc. None ever skipped, but the Uni girl did. The other ones were here only for a week or two but the Uni one built up a base of friends, etc.......
The approval rate at the U.S. embassy is actually quite high, much higher than people would think. BG's are only a SMALL % of applicants. I don't have the stas at hand, but have been told somewhere about 90% get approved, you just don't hear about them that much. All the fiance visas, work and tourist visas.......
The approval rate is a matter of public record, I am just too lazy to back up my comment by looking it up.......

A 10 year visa came in the mail 3 days latter.
Sounds to me like the gals would all be tourist bound if only 'Uncles'  started escorting their single nieces.

It sounds as if your point of perspective relates to work visas, and I would expect a higher rate of approval for them given company backing and support. I wonder what those accept rates are for ladies wanting tourist visas for a 3-4 week visit to USA?

I think Whereyoucomefrom 's anecdote proves my point by indirection. Why the f*** do they care where she learned her English from?
Simple fact is that my TGF learned most of her English from me and from going back, completing school, and taking a host of post-Mattayom classes that were very relevant to her being able to make a decent living in LOS. She has been trying to learn new English words everyday, has a notebook she writes them in, and studies them on the bus on the way to work everyday.
I stick to my guns: no TGF that was at the embassy that day with a farang was approved, period. There have also been other stats posted on this board that shows 25% rejection rate of TG's. This rate also applies to other Asian countries as well. We have a very flawed method for vetting tourist visas at the US embassy that is echoed in other embassies in Asia.
More importantly, given the incredible flow of illegals that stream across the southern US border every day, and the unwillingness of the US government to even address a simple worker visa program to deal with it, while on the other hand giving the illegals all the health benefits they can possibly think of once they illegally make it here, where is the logic that says they should turn down a Thai woman who politely applies for a tourist visa?
I challenge anyone to show me a better case for a tourist visa than the one my TGF presented to the embassy. She patiently waited four years, schooled herself, got a decent job, owns land, has a father who works for the Thai government upcountry, has deep family roots, all of which were exhaustively documented to the embassy, and who had a written guarantee from me about financial and "custodial" support of this guest to the U.S.
Simple fact is, the process is deeply flawed and highly biased. It fails for fundamental reasons, and needs to be completely deconstructed and rebuilt with a new paradigm. It's out of sync with the reality that is happening in this country or any other country of the world. The embassy workers know damn well that they work beyond the reach of the Congress under the vague "guidelines" handed down by the State Department. I've done the homework, read the State Department field manuals about this, and they know damn well that they can essentially operate, in a very real way, without a license and beyond reproach from taxpayers in the U.S.
In a word, it's bullshit.

The whole situation with the fiancee visa is flawed too. You've been dating this girl that you can see only on holiday. The U.S government won't allow her to visit on a tourist visa. So you get a fiancee visa and have 3 months to decide whether you want to marry her. The whole time shes f***in your brains out. You think this is great! So you get married and she get's her green card. She then realizes that half your assets are hers when divorced. She divorces and becomes quite wealthy by Isarn standards. She makes everybody happy up country, gains much face at your expense.
The good old USA, the government that you've been paying taxes to all your life, has aided some Isarn farmers daughter in shaking you down. I guess this is a form of foreign aid. Lifes a bitch! 5555!

Several ways around that... pre nup or putting your assets into a trust that you are simply the manage of for a monthly fee... also it depends on how much you have... if you have a sizable amount, there are many ways to keep her hands off the money..... but for the average guy, not much hope... ah, the risks of life !!!!!!!

In most USA states, your divorced wife is only entitled to half of the assets accumulated since you first got married. You might want to consult a lawyer to make sure your previous assets are segregated, but it can be done. However, they might skip out for even for that smaller amount of money.

True but for example a house you brought into the marriage, the appreciation that occurs during the marriage becomes community property. Given the increase in property values lately, that could be substantial.
Any asset you bring into the marriage that increases in value during the marriage, the appreciation may become community property. That could even include your retirement.
