Fallit, well, since you do not have a job, you could look at the brighter side of things. You don't really need to be where you are right now. You might as well come over to LOS, and find a job here. Sure, it may not be easy, but spend some time looking for one, and I am sure you will find one and you may be really thankful that you did that, for you will be able to live with your GF in LOS and get a job (okay, it won't pay as well as where you were), but you won't be broke, and you will be living in LOS!

If you go back to LOS, do it because of what LOS *can* do for you, not what it *did* do for you. What happened to you (however pleasurable) is in the past. Do not return and expect it to resume. It will not!
There are other adventures to be had in your life (maybe in LOS); some that might be even more pleasurable, some might not. Either way, as Red said in "Shawshank Redemption" ... "Get busy living or get busy dying".
Added Note: Is this strange or what? I'm flying back from NY (New York City) and I post the exact same thoughts as BK at virtually the exact same time ... great minds think alike! 5555

The thought is always there BK, I have the balls to try as well, I did it before when I came to this country, I started as a Nightporter (learnt the language) ended as Hotel Manager 3 years later, then I moved on to Incoming which was basically promoting and selling Europe to Asian tourists.
Unless the latter could be used in some way then the only other apparent job that I could do would be to teach english, but as I have no experience then even that would be out of reach I would imagine. I have read and been told that virtually any native english speaker can get a job teaching regardless of qualifications and experience but Im sure it isnt so easy as made to be believed.
I wouldn't call the girl my girlfriend, just a very good friend and she wouldn't be the only reason for me returning. Last time was holiday and fun, the next time would be to make a go of it and create something for myself. I think that having a BG GF from the start would be an unwise move.

It's not a matter of luck. Only you can determine whether you feel you've spent your trip wisely. Are you glad your time in BKK transpired as it did? Would you do it all over again? It really doesn't much matter what everone else thinks, the question is was it worthwhile for you or do you feel a sense of regret at not having experienced other girls and venues in BKK?
I know how, and generally with whom, I like to spend my time when in BKK, but who is to say you would enjoy the same? As long as you are happy then it was worth it yes?
If you feel a sense of longing to try something new, then you'll make sure to create a different kind of adventure for yourself on your next trip.

Your comment here tells me you at least have your head mostly screwed on right. If your going to come to Thailand to make a "go of it and create something for yourself", perhaps you should consider avoiding bargirls and try to meet one of the countless decent, honest hardworking Thai girls that may well like very much to meet you?
If your coming to Thailand for a short visit then hanging out on Soi Cowboy may be fine for you, but if your planning on trying to make a new life in a new town that may not be the best way to get started. I dunno, it's all up to you. No one can tell you what to do.

with your 10,000 pounds you could easily set yourself up with the english language course here and then get into a job. I could not do it, however many people do and enjoy it. Think of those students in little black dresses you would meet, maybe I could do it. Anyway, it is relatively easy to get an english job, I know several guys living near me that have done just that. The pay is not so great, but you can do it and survive while looking for something better and if you have the drive, go out and seek private tuition and get a higher rate for extra work. Another guy I know does this and another found a job with an inbound travel company, but that was before sars and I believe he was the first to go also. So give it a try now while you have no commitments.
By the way, the coincidence with your gf and the gal I know, although spooky, she did say he was from Switzerland I think and as you mention pounds, I guess your a pom and in England.

JR- I think that the baht I saved on hotel bills pretty much covers the points you mentioned.
CN- Maybe she did, maybe she didnt. (but most probably didnt) I know that she is a working girl and a popular one at that and I accepted this fact from day one. It wasnt as if we had declared our love for each other or anything along those lines. I even told her that she could go with customers if she wanted as long as she didnt do it in my face. It would have been different if I had from the start expected her to be faithfull, but I didnt and I would have been pretty naive if I had.
