Hey Harry, who is turning bitter here?
I would classify as a slow learner because many including myself completely ignore DG. Just buy one of those wheel mice and buzz right past his posts, that's what I do.

Perhaps Harry's reaction is typical?
He seeks advice and approval and then gets upset that it is not what he wants it to be.
I know a chap (farang) who owns a small restaurant in Thailand that will do very good farang food if you want it.
Consequently it attracts the usual round of farangs who want a western breakfast or lunch. This chap is friendly, chatty, open and honest.
Frequently the farangs turn up with their latest 'tilac' who they claim is different from the others. A veritable picture of loyalty,honesty,beauty and who wouldn't take anybody for a 'sting', small or large. Their best 'gal' in the World !
Now the owner of this restaurant has seen it all before, probably three times over. He knows what he is talking about. Definitely not a 'bar-stool' preacher.
Eventually there comes that 'heart-to-heart' about their 'special' girl. What does this chap do ?
He tells the truth as he sees it (very very often right).
The response is awe, shock and horror !!

There is an unpleasant and aggressive reaction and he has lost another customer.
To him the truth and his knowledege are more important than loosing an occasional customer.
For some reason when farangs come to Thailand the way they assess their relationship situations in Farangland goes straight out the window. They enter the realms of fantasy.
There must be some success stories out there but they are usually built on firmer ground and not (except in rare cases) a bar-girl. There are just too many reasons for failure and too few for success.
As the man said,"Don't forget to check your brains in at the Airport when you arrive and to pick them up again when you leave!"

Good post and oh so true... Even happens to friends from time to time. Often they are so committed to their course of action that the only thing to do is be around to help them when they (inevitably) fall.
