It will apparently surprise you to know that I pass hard liquor billboards every day I drive down the freeway, right here in good old Jesusland (aka Texas). I also see hard liquor advertising on TV and in magazines.

Actually, the 'enlightened' part was humor, but in California, that kinda stuff has ben cracked down on, and tobacco advertising is pretty much gone, as you know. Doesn't deter from the point I was trying to make.

Strange that none of the Bangkok Post links to the articles work, Stickman also ran the story of the new age limit of 25yrs and posted a link, that also doesn't work, did the stupid idiot coming up with these ideas wake up and smell the gravy and get the Post to retract everything ? The Nation carried no stories on this.

Well there was an article about in the BBPOst today. Also there was talk about it on the radio in my taxi home today (in Thai).......... Anyway, 25 yr old limit--call me despotic, but I'm rather pleased that my girlfriend won't be able to go out and drink too much when she sees her girlyfriends. Though I guess that's wishful thinking.

But Just think of the knock on effects..If you cannot buy Alcohol until you are twenty five then surely you would not be allowed to work in a bar serving alcohol until you were the same age,!!!!

I think this will be more trouble for the local owners regulating who can enter their clubs, bars etc. I mean are they going to ban everyone under the age of 25 into RCA and other venues...
what will they do, open a youth club for people under 25 club serving fruit drinks???
also what about the other venues outside of the normal clubs and bars... like the G-Clubs and Massage parlors?? Carding everyone??? doesnt make a lot of sense

Good point nyc boy.
I also wonder about all the little hole-in-the-wall karaoke and late night joints around my apartment. I would occassionally drop in the the little karaoke joint downstairs from my apt for a last brew. That place doesn't really get going until after midnight, almost all Thai, rare to see a farang there, and mostly working Thais (and Thai ladies, lol). Most of them don't look much older than 25, so either the local police will be making lots of money off this, or some of these venues will go out of business. This particular one serves good Isaan food with their beer, so a nice oasis of sorts. A simple place where no one bugs me, and everyone seems welcome. Even the ladyboy waitresses are exceedingly polite.
There are several more like this within walking distance, including one owned by an associate of my TGF from years gone by. We discovered it, and my TGF's old friend, by accident while strolling down the soi one night looking for new venues. My TGF's old friend said she'd only been open a month or so, and business was slowly building up. Not sure how she and her little business will survive.
