Ok, here is my two cents thought over this subject:
Chocolate: have you ever try to eat chocolate in Thailand? The country is FAR too hot to make you appreciate chocolate, the girl would probably eat some to please you but no more...
Hight class restaurant: Your girl would probably be treated like sh_t by the staff, she wont know what to order and would most likely not like at all what she get...Also seing the bill she would think that it was a lot of money spoiled...
Perfume: Ok, most girls like it and its a gift they appreciate, but once they know the price of a bottle of real French perfume they all agree that they would prefer the money.
Clothe/Tradittional jewelry from your country: it is a good option if you manage to get the right size for the clothe.
food/drink from your country: I tried to bring some cakes and beers&alcools from Brittany, and to my surprise they were very appreciated by the girls of the bar where my TG work,after that knowing I m vegetarian I had all sort of weird looking food/fruit waiting for me each time 
A good solution to make your girl happy AFTER she made you happy (i mean if its a girl you know since some time) is to give her let say 2 to 5 thousand bahts and to tell her that SHE invite you and whoever she want that night to the place of her choice. You have good chances to end in a real Thai restaurant in the middle of nowhere with an old karaoke surrounded by some of her friends and to have a good time (also to have a good headhache the next morning due to the large amounth of Mekhong drunk the night before)
