There are a few things that are entrenched in rural areas peoples beliefs, some to westerners very childish.
an example of this was shown to me yesterday night, not for the first time, but much more intensely so.
Her uncle (my girlfiends) had lived with us a few weeks before dying last Wednesday of a seizure.
Two villages One in mae sai, near burma, and the other here in phan, paid respects over several days.
The latter lastly yesterday, with the conclusion being monks chanting in the home, so his spirit moves on.
It was very interesting to watch for the 4th time chanting. The first being night before cremation, in a field. The second during.
The third at where he had a seizure, and lastly as mentioned.
The road I occansionally like to stroll down on evenings in the countryside, at the foothills of mountains 50 kilometers south of chang rai, has ghost reputation.
This being because several men have met untimingly deaths there, all explainable to us. Ie lightening, in a field you highest earth point.
Motor bike, drowning in weir (alcohol both cases)
Stroke, heart attack.
And as her uncle was sent to get me 10 nights proir to his death along that road, the association is being made.
I have to admit to it being a magical setting with mist/and or storms rolling in at times and wide open fields and a narrow little farm land rural road with silence and just the bugs and frogs.
But to actaully encounter growing opposition (including my girlfriend to these walks based on this rationale.
"'the ghosts cant get me for some reason.
Though I bet the north amercian Bush supports ( of that little hitler) wish that they could and will.
So the ghosts go after one of them.
In a thai village not a month (yea week sometimes ) ) seems to pass without a death occurring. (motor bikes/stroke etc)
so my walks may incurr Wrath.
Last night coincidentally fire flies flew into the home and on sleeping put on quite a show.
Lightening flashed, and her trembelling began.
This was a sign "'uncle is still around"'
And to make matters worse the window he always kept opening downstairs was open this morning.
That is simply because I had 'nt locked it, and the storm had blown it open.
Even well educated thais (one doing medcine) share the spiritual beliefs of ghosts.
Its a pity if this civil freedom is rebuked because their thinking is based on fears.
The lightening storms were particularly amazing to watch from that road.
So far no ghosts. : :

Easy to judge some guy who uses his economic power to lead some poor women on when he has no intention to marry because he wants to go home and tell his buddies what a big time lover he is is a LOSER. Most of the time he's the kind of guy who can't get laid in his home country because 5 minute into a conversation with a women she knows he's a wanker.

Go buy your little 2 cent trinkets for the girls so they will agree to go with you out of pity.
You've said it yourself (I believe) that you don't get the '10's anymore. Could it be 'player hating'? Just be a man and realize that there are some people who are younger, better looking and more financially secure than you and move on with your life. Life is too short. (especially for men of your ripe ole age).

My $0.02 cents on this DG avatar - I feel that he should have the right to have whatever avatar he chooses, no matter how offensive. Bear in mind, it is up to BK to set up an avatar for a member, so if he feels the avatar is fine...
Furthermore, if we are alleging ourselves as the voice of reason (or, whatever) we must take the high road on this, and respect DG's right to make a fool of himself.
So, he feels strongly about this George Bush guy - leave him be. The less attention paid to his avatar, the better. There's plenty of good debate and discussion on this topic, though it should be moved to here.
Unfortunately, I doubt any productive debate can ensue, as no matter what is being said, DG's argumnets are restricted to the same three points.

Trouble with Bush supporters (as arcadius ) point out is the audacity of believing the whole world is wrong and anti american to comment.
Even amensty international.

With a reassuring push in the back by Thomas Hobbes, I disagree. Individuals should indeed be granted their basic right, but only when they do not damage the greater good (life, society). Adhering to Hitler’s ideology has the proven potential to be disastrous - and must hence be smothered in its root.
If you extend what you are saying, you should not report a guy who is cherishing anti-American literature, learning how to fly a plane and professing that he is not afraid to die for his beliefs, all because it is “his right to do so”?
What adds oil to the fire here is DG’s limitless stupidity, and per definition his incapability to think for himself. Which makes him extremely prone for mass-indoctrination. Which is exactly what Hitler did in the 30’s and what religious fundamentalists are doing now all over the globe.

HyperShade - I think you're missing the point. I said that we should respect DG's right to not just make a fool of himself, act foolishly, but by doing so, undermine any valid arguments he actually might have made.
Oh, and he is in fact advocating the exact OPPOSITE of what you allege, by claiming he is fanning the flames of anti-semitism, and National Socialism... His avatar is actually making the opposite point - equating Bush with Hitler, in an effort to shock, and (he hopes) rattle people awake.
Unfortunately, the effort to try to explain to him that his effort is backfiring seems to be a waste of time. So, don't accuse DG of being a Nazi - he is nothing of the sort (and, in fact, neither is Bush).

Although I see the difference - and your point, I still think it is a dangerous attitude. You never know who might be actually listening, believing and following. People after all, are relentlessly stupid. Add to that the fact that most human existences are utterly void of anything worthwhile and you have the perfect recipe for things like genocide.
Or, paraphrased in Abrak’s signature: “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups”
My statements go beyond DG’s fluff– which admittedly I haven’t read. I don’t read his stuff when he would be discussing the toenails of his cat, let alone when he talks about politics.
(I do realize I am WAY of topic and my apologies for that. being European, swastika’s still touch a painful nerve.)
