kissing in public is not widely accepted in thailand due to cultural or asian way of life. yes there is kissing and there is kissing. one thing i do realise is that in singapore, public display of affection is widely accepted and for malaysia it depends on areas or who the people are displaying affection as malaysia is heavy muslim country, sometimes no really 'open minded' as people do stare.
to me is that if unsure perhaps not do it? for your case and mine the girl will give us a peck on the cheek and to me that is receiving from them thus perhaps giving us the 'green' light that it is ok. a peck on the cheek or lips isn't bad but its not a usual thing that thais see everyday. perhaps their society has some what accepted this but best is to know how your TG would feel towards it...hence if she is not too self-conscience about little kisses in public.
there are certain thing in which to you or me is fine but can or may be offensive. its how you 'click' with her. even when i am with my TG, i do realise there are miscommunications (language or background) and somethings in which i feel it is ok is not all accepted by her and vice versa.
best is to have a local thai as see his thoughts on this...anyone in this forum you know who is thai?

Hey guys, I guess I haven't done a very good job of making my views clear so let me try this again. I never said that I feel I should have the right to show affection to a Thai lady in public. I firmly believe in showing as much respect as possible to the beliefs and customs of all cultures anywhere in the world. What I am saying is that if that Thai lady decides that she wants to give me a kiss or hold my hand out in public then I'm not about to tell her not to do that because she might get a lot of dirty looks from the POLITE THAI SOCIETY. If she feels comfortable doing something so innocent in front of her fellow Thais then I'm not about to say no. As far as I'm concerned if she wanted to hold my hand or give me a kiss in public and I were to say no to her then this might give her the idea that I'm embarrassed to be out with her, that I feel she's low class and I don't want POLITE THAI SOCIETY to see me with her. Do I really need to express my feelings about POLITE THAI SOCIETY and the way they choose to treat many of their fellow Thais like second class ( excuse me, fourth class ) citizens. Do I really need to bring up how POLITE THAI SOCIETY men have hundreds of brothels in LOS that cater to their need to have sex with under age children? Oh wait, all that's done behind closed doors, not out in public. My bad. Okay, then how about these rumors I keep reading about how POLITE THAI SOCIETY women are going behind their husbands backs, spending their money to have sex with black men? Oh wait, that hasn't been 100% confirmed as far as I am aware. Well hey, I guess as long as POLITE THAI SOCIETY is keeping this all behind closed doors instead of out in public then it's okay. My apologies for offending POLITE THAI SOCIETY. Peace BTW- Brother Hult you do not need to worry about your spelling. Your spelling is just fine. dude...you seems fumed with what is going on with the Thai society...are you? i feel that if so, that is their way of life...i'll just let it be. its all about asian attitude (do realise it happens in other asian countries as well) i guess ?

Hey brother Delta, my apologies. I do tend to let my opinions start to fly where certain subjects are concerned. It just gets my goat when certain people feel they are better then others simply because they have had better advantages in life then some have. And I will never understand how any people can show prejudice and contempt for others of their kind simply because their skin is darker or because they live in a certain part of the country or because of what some of them have to do to make a living. To me that's bad enough, but what's even worse is when people from other countries come to LOS and do the exact same thing. I guess being a black man makes me a little overly sensitive to all forms of prejudice, especially when it's directed toward the ladies of LOS. In my opinion the ladies of LOS are national treasures, no matter what they do for a living and just because some Thai ladies work in bars and spend time with foreigners for whatever reason should not mean that they should suddenly be considered no longer Thai, in anyones eyes. My apologies bro if my tirades upset you. Most of the brothers are use to my half page posts and have learned to take them with a grain of salt. I can't promise to change my ways but I will try to economize my tirades down to a third of a page whenever possible  . Peace

no worries bro, no hard feeling taken. yes i do understand the amount of prejudice going on in thailand. i have friends in thailand, some works in professional line and the others in Bar or are freelancing.
i know some of my professional friends meant well as there is a freelancer girl who really likes me. she told me all about the thai culture and what they accept in which is why she cannot really mix around with my TG even she finds her ok, i respect the fact that she came out clean telling me so i would not misunderstand her. she is very afraid that i may get hurt and end up in the dumps like some guys in the other threads...having hooked up too deep with a TG.
i guess its all about opening the mind to understanding a person and their background and culture but like you said Cmore its even worse coming from foreigners.
don't have to carry on changing ways...just you be you. cheers man!
