Kaymanx is definitely onto something with the face/body thing.
I think there's a tendency - when still in the bar - to overvalue pretty faces and undervalue perfect figures (however you personally define either category). Yet once you get down to business, the body turns out to be much more important. I'm not sure why it is, but I find that faces seem to average out when on the job - so that 5s and 10s all seem more like 7s or 8s. On the other hand, the difference between an A+ and an 'acceptable' body becomes much more marked.
I had a good example of this earlier this week. Hit on a beer bar girl who looked terrific from a distance, but a lot less so close-up. Perhaps a 6. Plan A was to have quick drink with her then beat an ignominious retreat. As it happened, I didn't. Looks aren't everything, as we all know, and... well, she was sexy, really sweet and I liked her a lot. So what the hell. Ý
Anyhow, this girl turned out to have a 10 body (at least in my book) - slim to the edge of skinniness, but with a superb pair of breasts to go with it. Naked, she was just sensational, and given the facial 'averaging' effect, I was more than happy with the night's selection. At any event, I'd conclude that a 6 face/10 body combination will beat a 10 face/6 body combo hands down once its time to attend to business.
So far as performance was concerned, this BG was also way above average - and I suspect she put herself in the 'must try harder' category. Like us, they probably judge their relative attractiveness primarily on the face. Ý

I think that when we are very young, we look mostly for a good body. As we age we start to fall more and more for the face and the sweet smile.
I agree with Arcadius that it is somehow easy to overvalue a pretty face. The most frustrating thing is to go for a pretty face who later shows to have a poor attitude.

PS Smegma. Re the pretty face, poor attitude thing:
One trick (available to expats anyway) is to play hard to get - turn yourself into a bit of a challenge for her. I find this works well in bars where there's only 1 or 2 stunners, and they like to demonstrate to the also-rans that they can get any man they want.
It's hard. it's tough - but the longer you can resist a BG like this, the more determined she'll be to 'get you' in the end. If that means coming through with a good attitude, she may even be willing to make this supreme sacrifice... Ý

Ha ha ha ha!! Funny stuff that I can completely relate to. And the couple times I did not either make it through plan A or aborted was when I woke up and wished I could've chewed my arms off to get away!! ha ha ha!!
And the hangover the next day was nothing compared to the "ripping" I took from my friends on the deed that had been done the night before!! ha ha ha!!

Arcadius, but isn't that a risk. I mean, if she normally has a bad attitude and if she is doing it only for the challenge, her apparent good attitude may be short lived as it is fake. Once she thinks she got you hooked and you are alone with her, she may go back to her usual bad attitude.

Arcadius: You have been sneaking a look at my playbook! I used to say that the pretty ones with a bad attitude were oftebn the easiest ones of all.
Smegma you are partly right IMO but if you do it right you can get them to try extra hard in bed. They might start getting the attitude when they are down to the towel or take it off but if you are blase and unaffected they get engaged again -- then if you have the supreme control with which MrJoe is gifted  you continue to play it coool even during the action and she keeps trying whereupon she starts to get into it and you give her encouragement and...by the end of a rocking session she's tamed.
Well, that'show it's supposed to work anywway. And believe it or not it did many, many times. And for the ones whose bad attitude is unconquerable -- who wants 'em?
