i know quite a few guys who have married p4p girls from thailand - all but one are still happily married (I will add that there are not huge age differences between these couples) - I can't say the same for the vast majority of blokes I know who have married western women - who are either divorced or wish they were.
True some of these marriages may have started off more as a business arrangment with each giving the other what they want (a nice lifestyle versus regular sex with a hottie), but they've stood the test of time and these couples all seem to be very much in love - some after more than 10 years together.
Despite the above I agree that the majority of p4p girls would be bad news and probably leave you high and dry, but the trick is not to marry one of those ones. There are some 'good' girls out there who would rather have a secure loving relationship than spend every night with a different dick (or 2) inside them. For a lot of these girls it is their only way to escape a lifetime of poverty, unfortunately too many become hardened to it after a few months of being used or have been let down before by empty promises, so they in turn have no problem in using the lovestruck punter.
The newbie who falls in love with the first bargirl that smiles at him is asking for trouble, but if you've had time to get to know your girl (and she you) you should have an idea if she is genuine or not.
I am about to follow the footsteps of many and marry my girl who was also working p4p - having left my farang wife in the process. Who knows if it will last a lifetime or not. I know if things turn sour she would have no problem returning to trade (she's told me as much!). However her past is less of a problem for me than mine is for her...she worrys that I will leave her after a few years - after all I've already done it once, and she doesn't fully believe that I can leave the p4p scene behind. unlike her I wasn't doing it to pay the rent and put food on the table.
BigDusa - Stereotyping these girls as all being moneygrabbing airheads is no more correct than saying everyone on this forum is incapable of getting laid without paying for it because we are all to old, fat or social misfits. They are all different - as are we.
My girl is intelligent (more so than me) and can hold a decent conversation on most things. We share the same interests and have the same goals. She was earning more than me when we met (working international) and I have a good salary. She was about to start working in the UK where she could have earned more in a month than I do in 6, but gave it all up to be with me. (ok she was earning more than enough to pay the rent, but why not, her plan was stay in the business just long enough to build a house - which she's already done - and have enough to start a business and so be financially independant). Coming from Issan she talks about herself being low class, but despite the way we met she is the classiest girl I've ever met.
Friends who know her and don't prejudge or don't know how we met never fail to be impressed - not that I would give a sh_t either way.
One last point, continually reading this forum looking for answers can give you a distorted view, since it's main purpose is to pass on info about the flesh trade and not to analyse 'deep meaningful relationships'.
I originally found this sight when trying to find out more about my girls lifestyle, and for a long time everytime I read a report about one of the old hands banging a girl while she's on the mobile to one of her sponsors I decided my girl must be at it to. Yes I stereotyped her - and despite her answering all my questions and telling me enough about the p4p scene to write a book on it, my insecurities nearly broke us up. It took a lot of soul searching and a great deal of patience from her (as well as a few rows) for me to understand the forum for what it is. Also not every guy would marry a girl from this line of work no matter how genuine she is simply because they would never marry a 'hooker', so you are bound to get some negative replies.
The forum is full of useful information (it's my home page!) but not all of it applies to every girl.
So Harry do what feels right for you, just be careful and make sure you know her well enough before taking the big step. They are not all alcoholic gambling bloodsuckers with 5 sponsors and a thai boyfriend to support (though some of them are) !

Just read Flik's post. Very well thought and insightful.
Packripper-Maybe I wasn't clear. This is very much back on and hot as hell between me and TGF. We have had some great trips lately where it was just like being married. Malaysia for a week at the nicest hotel in KL, then to Chiang Mai with Mom and Bro and cousin. Vey nice 3 weeks.
She is tired of P4P life, and wants to come to US on Fiance visa. The ball is in my court. Just trying to make the final decision on current wife and family. It may be forced soon, as US wife is getting very suspicious and asking questions. Is there a way that you dont go to Pattaya this time and hangout in Bangkok? The JW Marriot is a great hotel with spa and gym and next to Nana Plaza. Many local well respected members live there and have somewhat normal lives. BK hangs out at the Bamboo bar around the corner from the hotel. Many would enjoy hanging out with you and there's a bigger variety of pfp scence. Have you been to Carribean? I will be in Bangkok the early and middle part of July if you want to hangout.
Ive been there. Its like smoking two packs a day and telling yourself to quit cold turkey. Maybe Bangkok would be your Nicorete gum for awhile to stay away from Pataya. You'd be surprized how many people have been down that road and will lend a hand. Just buy them a beer and they'll be happy to talk. Hey, we all share a common thread and thats to understand these girls on the best of terms. So dont worry and try to meet some members to get your mind at ease.
