Sure people don't like to talk about it : some think "he this guy get a lot of freebies and I don't get any, am I so ugly ?".
And other think they are so great that girls queue up to sleep with them, so when you tell them that nothing is really free they cannot accept it.
I agree that a real freebie is no money AND no strings attached/no hurt feelings. This is hard to find but always nice when it happens.

Can't see the point of all this fussing myself - the beauty of love & sex in LOS is that these distinctions are usually blurred and the 'reality' of the situation is often highly ambiguous. Freebie, paid-for, something in the middle - it just doesn't MATTER any more.
Seems to me that the compulsive urge to pigeon-hole and classify these situations is a very farang thing. Leads to all sorts of problems - eg, the (usually) doomed attempt to try and convert a relationship with a BG into a conventional BF/GF or husband/wife thing.
"We love each other so she's my girlfriend". "I pay her so she's a prostitute".
Equally useless. Equally inappropriate. Equally self-defeating. These experiences are NOT going to translate successfully into conventional Western terms and there is no point in trying to force them. Much better to just lie back and enjoy them for themselves, whatever the hell they are.

NokNa, you and I might have different definitions of the bar scene. To me, the bar scene and club scene are pretty intermixed, ie. Riverbar, Club 20, Orbit, etc. You can find freebies at those kinda places if find the right gal and there's almost always some kind of courting involved, they usually don't jump in on the first night.
Admittedly, only about half the freebies come from what I call the bar/club scene, the other half are just everyday ppl you might see in the skytrain, working at the department store, shopping, at the driving range, etc.
It's very possible for someone to never pay. My friend prides himself for never having to pay but I know he ends up giving the gal money because he says he feels sorry for them but that's the only reason why they sleep with him. You gotta consider the source... If you're a good looking guy or some kind of a celebrity, girls are into that and the action is good and free... heck, they might even pay you.
