I met my long term TGF on my second trip to Thailand... a perfect 10 who was already well travelled (read been around the block !!) and had a much broader world view and smarts than any other TG I hav / had met...
We met.. She never asked me for money... We spent the rest of my vacation together and (she was already living in working in Europe) days after my return she was living with me in Holland.
She went from being a tequila slammer drinking party girl to the perfect housewife / homemaker over the next couple of years..
We had many happy years together and the 'life' was well and truly behind her... We moved from Europe after a while to Thailand and we both made each other very very happy. In short she was the perfect woman and my soulmate who I was certain I would be spending the rest of my life with (the only reason we were not married is that she was already married to a MIA / untraceable Austrian).. She died Feb 18th this year.
Her sister is happily married to a nice Belgian guy, just had thier first baby (though they both have kids from prior relationships) and they seem settled and happy. The life seems totally behind her also.
My brother is currently dating a BG... They have lasted >1 year or so and they are both in the UK and IRL at this moment.
All of these relationships are people who are roughly the same age as each other and seem to be as stable and happy as any other sampling of relationships. I think an important part is that you must be together continually and I think it helps a great deal if the first months / years are out of Thailand to 'sever' the link to past customers / boyfriends / skeletons in the closet etc.

Cheers BigD, I read it twice the 1st time, bar talk is all, people who have heard things 3rd or 4th hand, the world is full of them unfortunately.

It might be of interest for readers to learn that after divorce in thailand, your free instantly to remarry but the woman has to wait 10 months. BIg usa. I am a long time visitor to thailand, I have over 500 days stamped up there. With 3 times 60 days, and 8 times over 30, as well as quickies up to 10 days. I have sponsered 5 woman, engaged 2, married one, from thailand. I have lived in a village 4 times over a week near khon kaen. No westerners. LIved also in phan on the opposite side of the country about 80 kilometers south of chang rai. I have eaten sticky rice along with the meals that simple villagers prepare daily. Had fevers. sh_t myself silly, (yes over a squat tiolet.) Rode a 125 motor bike right across the width of thailand, and then up to burma. I have met alot of thais, lived alittle with them, and think have some knowledge of whats it all about. Basically mate, the poverty in a financial sense is compensated by a wealth of affection that thais have for the family structure. Ofcourse this is also an insurance policy in old age, and sickness. But it goes deeper. I have felt warmth from families that exceed the narrow view that its all about money. These girls we screw once were little girls in a village with little prospect in money terms, but loved alot in most cases. Its that warmth alot of visiting men to thailand, rightly or wrongly cling to. Its human to fall in love, even make mistakes. But believe me alot of thai woman dream of marriage and a husband that can ""take care of them""....Your right to some extent that money also drives their affections at times. But some really do fall in love also. After your statments that most men are social misfits, fat, etc, and thailand thus a place left to them. You for some reason fail to notice that alot of us dont have tiny budgets that last weeks. And travel well, and enjoy ourselfs there. Meaning that we are able to travel, and live in comfort there. In all our countries, less fortunate females chase single men. No its because of "" pick a pig no can do, ! I like 45 kilos and up to you"' weight, size, and attitude, and gentleness. Sure they can be simple and sweet, even teenage like in manner, but beats the fierce serious bitch that is nearing a period and pissed of at you. ""up to you"" is something taught to them early. Ofcourse it changes, and in marriage it can disappear. But the marriage I had was blissful for a while. I destoryed it. Australia wasnt to her liking, and your right about family haunting you left right and centre. But thats another story. I live in a country where woman look down on south east asian woman that have a much older husband, guessing their past. After all a petite 23 year old and a 40 year old male? Still my wife flaunted it head on and played happy couple to the ninth and made them envious of love. Usually shallow ideas and attitudes, and a different culture have them homesick in under a couple years. But what about their country.? My current partner has nil interest in leaving thailand, and wants me to set up there. I am happy to try that. And with paper work and safeguards its a low risk deal. Farang woman not just thai woman, can take away your assets remember that. Sterotyping men, even your brothers here isnt really enlightening. I have butterflied in australia, and its been asian woman my prefered choice. Infact going to an asian dating agency and picking non permanent visa chicks visiting sisters, is a great way to get a few lays, and no strings. Even look them up in thailand. I admit to exploring many possibilities, cheating and decieving. But I am aware fully that farang woman mostly disgust me. Your wrong thinking its us who has the problem. Get one to jump on your back, and count the broken ribs. Petite is sweet!
