So after 2 years here in farangland I finally managed to get the time of for a trip to thailand on May 5th
now before this two year stint here I was in and out of thailand at least every three months so I was pretty clued up whats hot whats not etc etc etc
so I have a few questions for you guys who have been in and out since my last visist
1) I like to chill out in the afternoon either under the flyover (soi 0) or the small bars Opposite washington square hows things with them now
2) Hows the nana hotel these days there was a lot of refurbishment last time there looked like they were trying to shake of the image as a sex hotel
(yes I know its a dump but I dont have far to crawl when I leave nana plaza)
3) theres been some low cost airlines started up since I was last there I usally go up to chang mai for a week
is it worth investigating going with these guys or should I stick with bangkok airways and thai domestic ?
any recomendations would be apreciated
4) hows chang mai night life nowadays as it was slowly getting worse the last time I was there
any good bar recomendations / places where a better class of girls instead of the skanks that work loh kroh rd
5) hows the new crop of girls in bangkok I usually go for the slightly less pretty girls rather than the princesss who spends most of here time looking in the mirror
6) rather than risk poor quality clothes I go for off the peg good quality shirts /trousers etc from robinsons / central there used to be loads of promotions etc Tourist discount vouchers from customer services so whats happening now

1) Can't help there.
2) Nana is still a very ugly, shitty hotel, but they have increased prices.
3) Definately use the new low cost airlines,, airasia / tiger air/ nok air. Airasia has BKK - Chaing mai for BHT499 = taxes. ( only a bit over 7 pounds sterling)
4) Chaing mai night-life was ok when I was there 2005,,,check BKT "elsewhere in Thailand " for up-dates,,,you will also find good hotel suggestions there.
5) No problems finding less attractive girls,, Soi 7 beer garden is infamous for these.
6) In 2003 and 2004 I purchased "Armani " and "Calvin Kleine" jeans from Mo Chit markets. They have outlasted the originals that I got in Australia and cost less than 10% of the price.
Final word,,, Make sure you DO go through immigration correctly.

1) Soi 0 is dead. I was there in March. Very few bars open, almost no girls and no punters. Not the best place to walk alone after midnight.
There's a bit more going on in Soi 1 (Plaza). Met one BG at Beaver's who's idea of an opening line was to put her tongue 1/2 down my throat. No stunners, but a couple of reasonably nice girls.
5) Almost all the girls at Patpong's Queen's Castle I would fit the bill as well.

Concur with BK,,,, morning night bar has always been one of my favourites,,, Usually has a good selection of girls, cold bia Chang,, pool tables good for fun,, Cold bia Chang,, music is a nice blend of 80's 90's GREAT if you aren't into techno, rap etc,,, cold bia chang.
Did I mention the beer?
A short walk across Sukumvit into soi 3 is Bamboo bar,, also has cold bia chang,,,,and recently added a good Italian? type food area LHS as you face Bamboo,, had some good pasta meals there in January,, Pizza good also.The owner is a friendly Maltese guy.

taken a few collegues there to see the hotties !!!
afternnon drinks is stricktly that just a place to sit have a few drinks watch some videos read a book or newspaper etc

The new pool is open at Nana Hotel, it's not bad, considering the water is not the milky white color as in the old pool. Get's sun and shade during the day. Much of the refurbishment has occurred in the rooms, but that just means paint. Not much new carpet, still hit or miss on the rooms. You'll be happy to know they haven't shaken their imge as a punters' hotel, lol, so you're still good to go there. And there is still the infamous Nana Hotel parking lot scene in the wee hours of the morning.
