Ok, say that I've found the girl of my dreams and for once want to drop the condom. Now, I'm not up for BG-Roulette and want to be as safe as can be.
1. How reliable are those STD tests in those little clinics?
2. How much do they cost?
3. How long do they take (to take and get an answer)?
4. Will the TG be offended for me asking?
5. Do they test for STDs other than HIV? (Herp)
6. Am I still risking live and limb even after they've taken a test and all is negative?

Myself, when I want to go skinless, I'll just have them do an anti-HIV antibody test, results in 45 minutes. I suppose I should probably do the whole works though (particularly herpes). The bloodwork is about 600 Baht per person at Rama IX hospital and 900 each at Samitevej Hospital.
Sorry not much help here. Whatever the cost though.... surely it's worth it!

Clinics generally much more expensive than the Hospitals, but good info as per the norm from P'rip - Allegedley 25% of the world pop. has herpes in some form, usually dormant, and a few tabs can knock that these days, - just personally, if I've spent some time with the girl, she is clean/healthy, and non HIV ... I would feel OK, but guess its an individual choice -

I read an article that my kids brought home about Herpes. They estimate 40-60% of the US has either type A or B and the rest of the world is pretty much the same. They estimate in 50 years that well over 70% of all adults will have herpes. It will become something of our species unless they find vaccine.
Heard that they may have a vaccine in as little as 5 years. will not cure but will prevent.

Amazingly .... yeh, Im touching ALOT of wood, seems to be about the sum total of my STD's picked up in many years in LOS, - and many TGs condom-less, but found zovirax tabs knock any occasional attack almost instantly - like most drugs, available pretty much everywhere, The chinese guys in the larger of the two chemists near the petro station on the corner of Nana and Sukhumvit probably the best place to buy.

I just spent an hour reading that interview, quite fascinating. The thing that concerns me is that this guy hasn't published much since the book you mention (his last paper was circa. 98) - perhaps because he's being censored. But the alternative aids theory has grown tremendously since then. I wonder what gives??
