Seems another lesson badly learned from the Bush administration - I bet the present government is hoping that any such war will serve to unite the Thais, and make everyone forget the internal problems.

A nice war will be good to drive all tourists out of Thailand, together with international investments.... leaving the Thais poor as they were around 1997 or perhaps the 60s...?

Just remember; when you deal with politicians - even a ridiculous incident or cause can lead to war. This has been brewing for quite awhile. I suspect that "domestic" considerations may be behind this misadventure.

Daffy, you really don't get it - this is not the US or a functioning society like Singapore. Even in the best of times the Thai Government has very little control over the Thai military. At present they have virtually none, the military put this into motion to embarrass the Government, regardless of the consequences. And the Bush analogy.... LOL...
