A shocking case of discrimination against good muslim brothers-

read below

Two Muslim religious leaders say they were removed from a commercial flight in America and told it was because the pilot refused to fly with them aboard.

Masudur Rahman, who is also an adjunct instructor of Arabic at the University of Memphis, on Friday said he and another imam had already been allowed to board a domestic flight out of Memphis when they were asked to leave the plane.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman John Allen in Atlanta confirmed the incident and said it was not initiated by the agency.

A Delta Air Lines spokeswoman said the flight was operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines, which also is based in Atlanta. ASA didn't immediately respond to telephone calls seeking comment.

Rahman said he was dressed in traditional Indian clothing and his travelling companion was dressed in Arab garb, including traditional headgear.

Rahman said was travelling with Mohamed Zaghloul of the Islamic Association of Greater Memphis.

The aircraft pulled away from the gate, but the pilot then announced the plane must return, Rahman said.

When it did, the imams were asked to go back to the boarding gate where Rahman said they were told the pilot was refusing to accept them because some other passengers could be uncomfortable.

Rahman said Delta officials talked with the pilot for more than a half-hour, but he still refused.

The men were taken to a lounge and booked on a later flight.

They called the Council on Islamic-American Relations, a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group in Washington, D.C.

"It's racism and bias because of our religion and appearance and because of misinformation about our religion." Rahman said. "If they understood Islam, they wouldn't do this."

It's also called come-uppance. When Hindus (workers and even tourists) land in the Middle East countries their baggage is checked and any idols or pictures of their gods that they carry are promptly destroyed (brutalised in the eyes of the devout). It doesn't matter that these pix or idols are carried by the religious purely for their private prayers within their rooms and are not meant for public display.

Wonder how many people really sympathise with what happens to the Muslims when the chickens come home to roost. It would be far better for Muslims to view these so-called acts of discrimination -- and I can tell you it's not just in the west -- as signals to them to mend their ways and check their religious and political leaders.

It's sad when discrimination happens, but their statement "if they understood Islam, they wouldn't do this" is a pile of horse crap. If they understood Islam they would never let them on the plane anywhere. Islam is one of the most discriminatory religions in the world, even more discriminatory than Buddhism.

Women are simply property, and treated as such all over Islam. They are not treated as human. That is Islam, now google for the rest of what Islam is, and see if you let them on the plane because of discrimination.

Are you now Muslim too, that you can call them brothers......hahahahahaha.

Acutally they should have removed them from the plane and beat the shit out of them.

Islam is not a religeon.

Nuke the whole f***ing middle east and push East and nuke those f*** towel heads too. India is ok, but as far as I am concerned we can either nuke them or sterilize them. Mankind will be far better off by getting rid of these savages.

I think they do this, because they understand Islam.

"Then Allah sent His peace of reassurance down upon His messenger and upon the believers, and sent down hosts ye could not see, and punished those who disbelieved. Such is the reward of disbelievers." 9:26

"Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low." 9:29

Daffy, similar quotations can be extracted from the Old Testament of the Bible.

The God of the Old Testament is vengeful and intolerant of any belief in a God other than HIMSELF.

The God of the Old Testament is just as dismissive of equal rights for women as the Koran.

It should not be forgotten that in the United Kingdom woman and their property were the property of their husbands until the passage of the Married Women's`Property Act in 1882.Similar rights in most of the rest of Europe were not given to woman until much later.

The first country to give all women the right to vote was New Zealand in 1893.

The USA did not allow all woman the vote until 1920.

So those seeking
to justify discrimination against Muslims on the grounds that they discriminate against women should remember that the same criticism could have been made of Western nations not so long ago.

What largely differentiates Western nations from many nations where Islam predominates is the rule of law which gives every aggrieved person regardless of sex, religion, occupation, and position in society the right to seek redress in the courts with the assurance that,in the great majority of cases,a just decision will be reached.

Any denial by the West of equal justice to Muslims will create a precedent for the denial of equal rights to whatever minority is currently unpopular;Muslims today, and anyone else tomorrow.

It would also provide a reason to those nations which do not give equal rights to all their citizens to continue to do so.

In the case under consideration here the 2 clerics were searched twice by airport officials, and on each occasion given the all clear to board the aircraft.

The pilot refused to allow them to remain on the aircraft on the first occasion after some other passengers said they were uncomfortable with their presence.

On the second occasion the pilot refused to allow them to board despite repeated requests to do so by airport authorities.

No doubt the clerics will successfully sue the airline, and recover substantial damages, with the result that,in the same circumstances in the future, their right to board will be respected.

Not saying one's better than the other - I would refuse to have Hassidic Jews board the plane for just the same reasons.

They won't - on an airplane, the pilot's word is law, and he can refuse to take off, or can refuse to transport any passengers, for any reasons that he deems endanger his flight.

The airline's only other option would have been to dismiss the pilot from this particular plane and to have him replaced with another pilot -- this has also happened in the past whereas a flight crew, or portions of the flight crew, refused to fly on a given flight. The airline replaced them for that particular flight.

Nevertheless, the pilot's only reasoning needs to be, under FAA regulations, that he did felt the safety of his plane would have been compromised with those passengers aboard. All the airlines needs to state that it was not the two Islamic clerics that were the risk, but that the pilot felt other passengers could have caused an incident over the clerics' presence, and he chose to protect his flight.

The case won't even go beyond an FAA hearing, if that.
