A one hour earlier closing is essentially no change at all. Even if opening time is fixed inflexibly at 6 PM, you still have 7 hours which is not so different from 8. Just drink faster and screw sooner.

The problem will not be in getting the customers to adjust, but the BG's they show up around 7:00 PM then they have to eat and put make-up on so its 8:00 PM by then. I doubt if they will adjust their hours.
Early bird gets the baht? Really, I've not noticed selection problems at even 6:30.

OPENING HOURS
The Interior Ministry will seek cabinet approval on Tuesday for a new regulation to require all entertainment venues to open at 6PM and close at midnight based on public hearing results.
Dep. Interior Minister Pracha Maleenont said he will ask cabinet on Jan 13 to issue a new ministerial regulation to require all kind of entertainment venues to open at 6 PM and close at midnight.
If endorsed by the cabinet, the new rule will be enforced around Jan 22 - The Chinese New Year Day - when His Majesty The King is expected to sign the new entertainment establishment law, he said.
Wichian Chavalit, director of the Local Administration Department's legal office, said the law will impose 5000 Baht fines on entertainment venue visitors to carry ID cards.

I never thought I'd see the day when Singapore would be cooler than Bangkok when it came to bar times.
Here, bars shut at 3am and there are places that carry on till much later. Looks like Bangkok is in real danger of regressing but that won't stop me coming back for the sheer volume of women.

This news is VERY depressing. Being a person who prefers to go out later to eat and take my time when I drink and visit entertainment places this move is really gonna take some of the fun from my visits to Thailand.
This news comes at a time when Thailand has suffered through global terrorism an Sars. Bar fines and drinks are higher than ever as are ST and LT prices. No more showing in go-gos, no more sex shows and more violence and disorder around the entertainment centres than there ever was before the social order crusade. Thaksins govt may be destroying the countries tourist industry and oppressing thai from civil liberties.
I saw in the news yesterday that Singapore is even considering make oral sex legal...

Maybe it is better to think outside the box. That the P4P scene will be closing earlier will not affect the Thai too much. This scene is often (?) owned by farang and surely mostly frequented by farang. The big issue is that ALL entertainment venues will be affected. That is something which will be noted by the Thai themselves.
One thing to remember is that at present the closing time by law is 1 AM and not 2 AM. Might this new law have also an hour of 'added' time? In this case we might expect that the new closing time will be 01.00 AM. But than again... we will see....
