First of all, I'm from Norway and did not know this guy.
But a lot of the responses in this thread are very disrespectful and full of bad taste.
You read some press stories and throw pounds of shit in his direction. He may have behaved the way described, but there is no need to throw additional burdon on the relatives back home in Norway.
I hope the judicial force in Thailand is not all that prejudicial.

Respect is something that you give before you can receive. It is difficult to feel or show any kind of respect for someone who demonstrates so little for themselves, the people around them, or their folks back home in Norway. Also, in most civilised countries, it is still considered the height of bad taste to commit pointless acts of violence, even if it is against oneself, and leave a sticky mess on the carpet for others to clean up. All the more so if the perpetrator is a guest in that country.

While a lot of stuff is 'He said, She said' argumentation, when someone puts the hand through a window pane, there's usually very little leeway. Yeah, you could make some whacky scenario up, but the KISS principles pretty much favor the story as told.

I am from America and since we are the most multi-ethnic nation in the world, you can make as many jokes as you want.
As far is Norway goes, IMHO it is one of the most civillized countries in the world, even if it is cold and the lox is not salty enough.
When the rest of Western Europe was too pussyish to stand up to the Nazi vermin, Norway alone fought back. In 1975, Israel awared the Righteous Among the Nations medals to gentiles who saved Jews during the Holocaust.
Norway was a bit complicated. Almost every Norwegian Jew was saved and the entire Norwegian underground was involved in rescuing Jews and getting them into Sweden or Finland.
I think this jackass is an insult to such a fine nation and Land of Amundsen.
