But it is off some concern what is happening in the Usa
In growing conservative christian states.
Far from hating AMERICANS
I think though the church and state should remain seperate.
Its relevant in that it is not a religion of peace when the peace of mind of an individual
Such as a pregnant woman/girl is being made to carry a mistake /dash unplanned child.

The area of the mediterranian including N. afrika, middle east, asia minor belonged to the roman empire, which ultimately become the holy roman empire (marking the official collapse of the roman empire) when constantinus declared christianity as the official religion in 300something AD. From 600somethingAD the muslims invaded all the mentioned areas in the next few hundred years, including sicily, spain and part of france, (beaten out by charlemagne and el cid, subsequently triggering the crusades to RE-TAKE the holy land, notwhitstanding the fact that it remained continously in muslim hands till 1967, (Jerusalem) except for a 50some year period) not to mention the home of orthodox christianity; byzantinum-constantinople-istanbul, the later capitol of the ottoman empire, ending in the early 20th century, when the brits carved out the present borders of beduin and other tribal arab lands, i.e.: iraq, saudi, kuwait,... dahrfour mandate, etc...
Meanwhile...
about 75 million people has fallen victim in the 20th century to totalitarian, anti-religious societies, namely fascism and communism. The people who beleive in nothing, are far out-murdered (corpses/hour) everyone else....congratulations!
I'll take organized religion over organized nihilism, anytime, but I would make my selection carefully, since
there are fundamental differences between the Judeo-Christian and Islamic faiths and I am not talking theological but conceptual.
Both the old or new testaments ( I am avoiding the subject of origin, referring only to the actual text, regardless) main aims are to regulate the interactions between people and between people and God. Buddhism fits into this category as well.
The Bible gives no instructions or have requirements on hierarchy, form of government, judicial process or any other insight into how society should be organised and how it should function. Example: the old testament frowned upon slavery, but did not prohibited it, however it mandated a set of behaviours for the faithful that would make it impossible to sustain the system.
The new testament i.e.: J. Christ did not addressed the subject, only the "commentary" part touches the matter briefly in non-specific terms.
Islam, on the other hand is a comprehensive instruction book on almost every aspects of life, religious or otherwise. The Quran through Sharia law regulates form of governance, civil litigation, contract law, perjury, finances and many other things with absolutely no religious connection...in our opinion.
The war that the terrorists are fighting with Osama at the helms is not about Palestine, Iraq, oil, or whatever is the excuse-of-the-day.

I agree, seeing as how I live there... But that is no reason to disrupt every thread you possibly can,. to voice your concern. After so many repetitions, not only does your message become stale, but you lose credibility. Kinda like the boy who cried 'Wolf'.
Either start a new thread, and keep your political concerns on the Z Forum, which is more apropriate for this kind of debate.

I'd be careful what you choose, as 'organized religion', on a statewide level, will be just as ruthless, if not more so, than what you describe as organized nihilism. The 'achievements' of the Catholic church throughout history demonstrates that quite well (Inquisition, anyone?).
The key, as DG makes, is SEPARATION of Religion and Government -- FIRMLY!

I didn't realised how long the post got...
Anywho, the point I am making is that OBL's demands can be applied to all democratic nations regardless of the dominant faith among the popolus. Thailand being as tolerant as they are I can see no reason why would it be on any Muslim shitlist. I am just worried that Bangkok might get hit...remember Bali? Look at the new London bombings...I hope they are watching the skytrain and the new subway in Bkk very closely.
