The game is a little bit more complicated than the rich greedy guy vs. the king's men, and it always was from the start in a way. But even more so since the coup: greed has spread, factions have been made, divisions have appeared, warning shots have been fired already, some people in charge suddently became rather worried about their future, after all, it does not suffice to believe to be a king's man to be safe, for all thais are the king's men or women, aren't they... And even that may change in the medium term.

Report from Bangkok Post dated Tuesday 29 May 2007 :-

Embassies warn citizens of possible unrest
================================

At least 6 embassies issued a statement on Tuesday, warning their citizens in Bangkok of possible unrest that may be caused by tribunal verdicts tomorrow.

The embassies tell their citizens to stay alert and to follow news on the verdicts that may lead to dissolution of Thaksin Shinawatra's Thai Rak Thai and Democrat parties.

According to a statement posted on the Canadian embassy website, Canadians are told to avoid all political demonstrations and stay away from areas where they might occur.

"Protests may turn violent without warning and a gathering, regardless of its size, may become a target for a terrorist threat or attack," it said. "Canadians should maintain high level of personal security awareness at all times, avoid unnecessary travel within the city, monitor local news reports and follow the advice of local authorities. "

The Australian embassy tell its people to avoid crowded places and spots where soldiers gather while the Japanese embassy urges its people not to get involved in any kind of protests.

Council for National Security chairman Sonthi Boonyaratkalin said 13,000 police and army personnel will be mobilized in preparation for protests after the landmark ruling.

Nothing happened last month with this CNS decision.

But as per my local netwwork, there are some moves in several universities... A lot of student gatherings, discussions and an electrical atmosphere.

Some parents are nervous to send their children to University.

Problems ahead?

Not ahead, they are there already... The question is how will they be resolved? The Thai way of course, but which one? The one which involve some shadow theater in front and lots of backroom dealings behind or the one which involve green and/or brown men on the street? I wonder...

sometimes it seems that the people of thailand donīt understand and accept that someone/thing is "serious" unless there is some blood on the street, then after the blood is shed they wake up remember that itīs thai blood and normaility returns.

Maybe the dissolution of trt, freeze of the cash, the warning that he is not safe if he returns can be substitute for blood, certainly stripping potjaman off her "khunying" title would do the rest.

PM ready to impose emergency decree
=============================

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Friday the government is ready to impose an emergency decree in the capital if anti-coup rally tonight gets out of control.

"Security agencies have all the plans," Gen Surayud told reporters. "But if things turn violent, I am prepared to use an emergency decree."

Supreme Commander Boonsang Niampradit said soldiers will use peaceful approach to control the mob and will not carry guns to prevent any violent acts.

"Soldiers won't be armed," Gen Boonsang said. "We are not barbaric. We will control the mob using peaceful means."

On ousted premier's scheduled live broadcast to his supporters at Sanam Luang tonight, Gen Surayud said the government will not block the signal.

Mr Thaksin can speak to his supporters but his speech must not provoke anger or create problems, he added.
