she just got thru after 5 trys...
I must say she is rather distraught over this..when I first told her she brushed it aside (she was at work) and made a comment about the baht.
Now that she is at home and has seen the news and read the internet she is on the verge of tears...
She just keeps saying.."my country horrible now"..."this not make king happy"..." he old man he dont want his country act like this"

she just hung up from mom and tried grandpa and cant get thru to him...they must be jammed to hell.

i live around sathorn and have seen plenty of cops. in fact at the intersection of silom and chong nonsi. on that intersection there are the usual traffic cops and about 7 armed soldiers.

ESPN channels just went blank. Eagles-Giants and Yankees games. Subversive stuff indeed.
I walked from Glow to Titanium to Toxic before I found a bar open around midnight last night.
Couldn't figure why all those bars were closed until RTB told me about the coup.
Was able to catch a cab on Soi 18 at 130AM, a Mercedes even, without any problem. Figured that was a better choice than walking back to Soi 11 like I normally do.

Here we go again. I was in the middle of things down at Ratchadamnoern for the 1992 coup. That one ended quite bloody.
This seems to be the Thai way of politics - every 10-15 years they shake things up with a coup and then move on.
I doubt there will be much resistance in Bangkok, but I wonder about Thaksin's base of support in the rural areas?
Nightlife? No doubt it will continue with barely a notice except possibly longer opening hours.

No you weren't....the coup was in early 1991.....the occassion you talk about was not a coup and never will be.
Lumpini cops must be made of sterner stuff than the ones where I work as we have none, usually 4 on my building alone.....
I hear that the Ministers have all surfaced in Singapore, obviously given plenty of warning to make their way there, actually a farang told me 2 days ago there would be a coup......
BK...people are going to run out of posts to discuss this....any chance of a number reprieve for the day?
