ATR's are very efficient and accountants love them.
They have sold hundreds.

I personally am not that keen to fly in them.
But they are OK.

Boeing B717's I have not flown in but understand are quiet and comfortable.

Bangkok Airways fly both to Samui as far as I am aware.
If you don't like the idea of an ATR you can always check which flights use the B717.

I'm not concerned with the safety, I'm interested in a lower roundtrip fare that might come with breaking Bangkok Air's monopoly.
