Quote: from Valetta on 5:15 pm on May 8, 2011 If he was satisfied that some passengers might resort to violence if he allowed the 2 clerics to board after they had satisfied all security examinations, not once but twice then, in accordance with his duty to safeguard the flight, the correct decision would have been to disembark the passengers who had threatened violence, not deny boarding to the 2 clerics.
Sadly for you, that's not how it works - but you go right ahead and keep asserting that. Maybe if you repeat it long enough, it'll come true. Wait, let me check.... uhm, nope, not gonna happen.

You conveniently forgot the next question - how many Civilian Muslims have been killed since 9/11 by Islamic terrorists? (hint: 90% of victims of any and all Islamic terror attacks are Muslim - do the math)

Quote: from Valetta on 5:15 pm on May 8, 2011 Daffy,if you would deny Hasidic Jews the right to board a plane presumably you would also deny fundamentalist Christians the same right.
It's nice how you try to turn this from "inciting appearances and clothing" to "just religious orientation". If a bunch of Fundamentalist Christians showed up with "Repent Sinners" signs (or even just their shirts proclaiming the same), I'd prefer them to be held back and not board the plane as well. Better luck next time.

I like how France has outlawed the wearing of head scarves in public places, including schools, by muslins. It doesn't seem to affect their ability to be the biggest buyer of Iragi oil, either before, or after Saddams execution. That's a little more discriminatory than barring 2 muslim dressed men from boarding a plane...lolol. The French did it for the same security reasons.

^ Wasn't their reason that the hajib demeans the woman, and the more restrictive ones make identification more difficult and impossible..? Same issue in the US with driver's license pictures - several cases were driver's licenses were refused because the person refused to take off their hajib to have the picture taken.

Koolbreez, the banning of head scarves in France had nothing to do with security. France has a long history dating back to the 1789 revolution of separating the Roman Catholic Church in particular, and religion in general, from the French State to the intent that the Church and religion receive no State financial support, and religion is relegated to being as much as possible a private matter for each individual citizen. Consistent with this policy Christian symbols such as the cross, if it was worn so as to be visible, were banned in State schools along with head scarves. On the other hand there was a security issue, along with the policy to which I have referred, which influenced the banning of the burqa because it masked the identity of the wearer, and made the concealment of weapons easier.

Daffy,if I am right about the extent of a pilot`s powers in relation to the boarding of passengers litigation by the 2 clerics is a certainty(unless they belong to the turn the other cheek Muslim sect). So watch this space.

Agreed that France did a brave and a good thing which I believe all countries must emulate in some degree at least. Specially in an open society it can be very galling when ordinary law-abiding people willingly subject themselves to security checks at malls and banks and train stations and airports and government offices, but Muslims seem to behave like they have a right to conceal their women in black sacks and huddle them through without the "insult" of a security check. It gets ludicrous at times. Indian banks once had to clarify to the public that when women submit their photographs alongwith their application to open bank accounts the photographs must be without the veil covering their face!!!! Recently I had the amusing experience of having a Muslim couple ahead of me in the immigration queue. When the man and his burqa-clad woman stepped up to the officer there was a long chat. I proceeded to the adjacent window and, as the officer did his scrutiny, I politley enquired how the department checks the burqa clad woman's identity. He told me they are asked to step into a special enclosure where a woman officer would in private witness the lifting of the veil. Ahem.

If all these Americans get thrown in jail, they will at least have some Aussies to show them the ropes. It isn't like they will be alone.
