Do you really think I said those things about what Thais think based on my own speculations? I have talked to quite a few Thais about this subject and I expressed what they told me. I stand by my previous statements.

Agreed, but how much foreign investment in disk drive manufacturing or even apparel manufacturing do you think there will be if the government in Thailand is not stable and the constitution can suddenly be revoked?
Economic stability and political stability are closely linked. Business does not like uncertainty.

If you can not tell the difference between Thailand (no matter how charming and well heeled it is) and places like New York, Amsterdam, Paris, London - and the surrounding country, then you can't be helped.
BKK is *not* Thailand, just as rural Mississipi is *not* the USA. Overall, Thailand *IS* a 3rd world/rate country (and this is not meant as an insult), though one moving ahead at a better pace than the other ones n the same area.

First, if you have been living in Thailand you would know that the Thais are too polite not to tell you what you expect to hear.
Second, I am sure that you have a statistically significant sample including residents from Chang Mai, factory workers from Chonburi, caddies from Phuket, nurses from Udon Thani, and dirt farmers from Issan.

At first it was good because I got some info about what is happening in Thailand with the coup.
