I write this from an Iternet Cafe in Phuket, 2 weeks ago 4am was the norm for closing, last night 2am or 3am (I guess depending who was being paid) but the local paper is talking about 1am being the norm in Phuket!

Last week I was there, had been told by friends that bars in Soi22 had to close at 1am and it was been enforced, police there most nights but was not really a problem as you know its going to happen so either go out early or you feel better in the morning for work. 
But what we ended up doing was just going onto to Nana or SC for the final hour or meeting some girls after work with no bar fine off course and go grab some food on the Suk (arround Soi5) that turned out to be quite a laugh 
If you do want till drink to 2 in Soi22 then my local in washington square has paid the money for a late licence, he could make some cash at it as well if he improved his selection of girls on the night shift.......

Sorry did not read the thread, sh_t thats changed quick allways thought that those in the zone or had paid the money would be open to 2................
Just looks like the Suk action happens an hour early then........ but TIT and am sure it things will change yet again soon

The problem is that Sukhumvit is not part of the designated entertainment zones. No solution there...
I agree though, TIT, you never know what is next. 12??

Could get really bad could be like the UK and end up at 11pm 
One good thing about the early closing times though are get to go back with the nightly catch that bit earlier and I may make into work before lunch time now
Not really into economics but it could have some benefits long term as if the girls and the bar owners start to loose customers and money etc and people move to other places for there fun and games, hotel bookings drop that combined with all the new places going up arround the suk at the moment, could have a massive effect on the local economy and with that some powerfull familes could put some pressure (or money) to change things back again......
You never can tell..................

All very confusing...
Seems the crackdown is limited to BKK.
Seems it is zone related. For instance Saturday night, Silom soi 4 closed at 1.00am but Lucifer (in Patpong) was open until 2.00am.
