Because killing people is wrong (except in exceptional circumstances) - I dont need God to tell me that.
That is a bit like me asking you - if you believe in God what are you doing on this forum. I am sure He would disapprove.
My belief is that people who believe in God are wrong and pretty stupid - a bit like I think that people who believe in toothfairies are wrong and pretty stupid. Your argument certainly hasnt done much to dispel that idea.

OK, again, who's been telling you that killing people is wrong? Would I be able to declare you wrong and stupid in that matter and kill you? Would that be considered a simple evolutionary act of survival of the fittest? Why is your life more valuable then a dog's?

My point was very simple. I was simply stating what seems to be a fairly clear fact. Namely that if you dont think that starving Africans are your problem, then dont be surprised if a bunch of starving Africans gang together and plant bombs in your neighbourhood.
By making their problem, your problem, they would at least get your attention.

Common sense tell us all that it is wrong the kill somone.
Think about it just for a few moments. How many times have you been angry enough to have the thought pass though your mind and then common sense prevails and you don't actually go ahead and kill the person...
It's only nutters that don't listen to common sense and carry out the act.
As far as dogs being equal in vaule  to humans, that is so wierd it's unreal.
I hope you don't plan on fathering a child.

Wow KF I am amazed that you need a God to tell you that killing people (except under exceptional circumstances) is wrong.
Lets start with the basics. The 2 starting points of evolution are selfishness (doing what is in my own best interests) and survival of the species (reproduction). If I kill a person (except where it is clearly for the good of the species) then any benefit that I derive (selfishly) will be at least outweighed by the loss to other people - a net loss to society and the species. Society recognises this and therefore would realise I am a danger to society and lock me up and throw away the key. So such action would not be in my own selfish interests.
As to valuing my life above a dog, I have already pointed out evolution's role in promoting the survival of the species above all else. As a member of the human race my life is therefore more valuable, by definition, than any dog.
Incidentally, this is presumably the thinking behind those that are anti abortion. Namely that the life of a foetus, that has as much consciousness as a slug is more valuable than a dog, many of which display a lot of consciousness.
What you are perhaps saying is that stupid people need a God to teach them what is right and what is wrong. This maybe so. But if you teach stupid people that what they do in this life will directly affect what happens in their next life, dont be surprised if 1. they dont value this life very highly and 2. they take a plane and plough it into the World Trade Centre in the mistaken belief that they will be rewarded in the next life by 72 virgins.
