Before the Tsunami the only way people could die in Phuket was take there own lifes or drown. Even if they got shoot from 140 meters they did them self. No farang get hurt in Phuket that was the melody. A small fight that I guess stickyman saw him self or some one close to him is nothing to report in the magazine. Also with the new law were you can not splash the victims photo in the magazine they do not care so much. There is so many farang get smashed every day in Pattaya and Patong and off course in BKK every day but no one writes about it. My friend got beaten up 3 weeks ago 22.00 outside soi 7 by 5 thai guys and 1 women. They took his wallet and broke his skull.

Lacking any details, the Nana/Soi 4 incident is looking more and more like a ghost story. My BKK journalist friend checked with the flaks (spokesmen) at a few farangland embassies (U.S., U.K., Germany, Australia) and no deaths or violent attacks reported under the circumstances described. Even if it wasn't one of their nationals involved, these flaks would have probably heard if any farang had been the victim. So it was most likely a routine Suk pink zone incident that got blown out of proportion.
It's obvious that any combination of horny young (and not so young) male tourists, booze and P4P in a big city environment is going to result in robberies, violence, etc. in any country. But for a monger to be beaten to death outside Nana would be sort of like a tourist getting beaten to death at the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower or Buckingham Palace.

Sorry guys, but this thing about believing that every thai man is a champion at Muay Thai is simply non-sense.
Most of them are small, less than 60kg and dont know how to fight at all, ok, they would usually attack you 3 or 5 together and you wont get any help from the peoples looking (most would think you deserve it maybe?), but still it is unlikely you ever meet any "Ong bak fighter" at all...
One more urban legend.

5 Thai Guys and One Lady boy to beat up one drunk Farang. Sounds about right to me.

I agree that it is very unlikely, but I really think there are a lot more potentially violent types around Nana than at the Statue of Liberty or Eiffel Tower, (sorry never been to the UK).
I mean at Nana there is essentially zero Mom/Pop/kids groups which make up a large percentage of tourists at a lot of tourist attractions and they tip the scales away from violence IMHO.
But I think that violence between mongers is more likely than Thai-farang violence. A lot of drunk farangs seem like they could cause trouble, seems like more so the last couple of years.

It is not about the violent types, but like Evil already indicated: Nana is the major tourist attraction of Bangkok, like what the Eiffel tower is for Paris. It would be intolerable for the authorities to allow murder or mayhem at such a place as it would affect tourism.
