No, Mel. We do disagree on the history of Vietnam, France, the USA, etc. But I am ready to discuss with you on that, as we just have in our previous posts.
But your statement that some people like the Vietnamese deserve peace and acceptance whereas some do not is just pure racism. That's exactly what Hitler said of the jews. I do realize that some persons are afflicted by this sickness, but, as far as our interaction is concerned, that is YOUR problem and I am not going to discuss it with you. My final statement on YOUR problem.

Just as an aside,,, FIB,, how many Vietnamese people have you talked with about your theories?
I have 9 Saigon ( yes I call it Saigon) stamped visas. I also have many Australian Vietnamese friends, I am invited to their TET ( Chinese new year) and have enjoyed their friendship for many many years.

Oh I see... That kind of game... Well, I have been to Vietnam about thirty times in the past 6 years - for business, mainly. When I am there I am almost invariably invited in the house of some Vietnamese friends. Some are from the north, some from the south, some are Viet Kieu who came back. Oh... and I am invited for Tet every year where I live... I have Vietnamese friends in the states, in France, in Vietnam, in Thailand, in Laos. I could add more, but that would be immodest on my part.
What do you want to compare next? The size of our dick?
Oh... and I am going to ignore that - how am I going to call it? - "aggregate of letters desesparetly trying to sound like an answer but coming far short" that you posted before your "aside".

Wow! Only 30 yrs that the war in VN/Laos/Cambodia is over and you've already worked out the re-writing of that history! Maaaaaaan, I am impressed by your great science and powers of deductions!!!
If you want to know the Vang Pao story, the Americans, the French (tho not a lot about that part of Lao history), and the whole hoopla, find "Shooting at the Moon", by Roger Warner. Well researched, credible sources and well written. As in VN, the Americans DID NOT need the French to screw up royally!
As for VN, there again, the French were out before the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations concocted this beautiful mess that came to be know as the VN War and all repercussions on VN itself and neighbouring countries.
Now, this does not excuse the French colonials. They were ruthless exploiters, no question about that. But the Americans have NEVER needed the help of anyone to screw up as bad as can possibly be done.
Now what? In another 30 years, someone will re-write the history of the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and say that the Americans came to rescue of... God knows who?!?
Get your facts straight first, then you "may" have a chance to come to some sensible, even half-articulate conclusion.

And as a Frenchman, thank you to all allied soldiers and their leaders who contributed to D-Day and the liberation of France, securing its place on the right side of the cold war.
Here are the estimated numbers of those who sacrficed their life during the battle of Normandy:
US: ~ 30,000 dead
UK: ~ 11,000 dead
Canada: ~ 5,000 dead
France: ~ 12,000 dead (that include civilians)
Unfortunately, I don't have numbers for other allied nations (Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, etc.)
To the Fallen!
But frankly, I don't think that the Vietnamese, the Laotians or the Hmongs really care about this...
