Hmmm let's think about this Population is:
95% Buddhist, about 4% of the population, mainly living in the south of Thailand, are Muslim. The remaining 1% are Confucians, Taoists, Christians, and Hindus....

There is about as much chance of of muslim state in Thaiand as there is Thaksin paying Taxes!

First sniff of any religous retric and the 95% of the army that supported the coup will kick the generals ass out of power..

Are the punters concerned...... with your reasoning.... not really

i do not think that this is too much serious about changing thai to muslim state this is not possible as in modren era one can not supress the population
may be in earlier days after millitary rule they can take action on night life / mongering on roads by free lancers or such things but after some time every thing will be normal as before

The King has approved the new "Government" - as I said before GAME OVER.

I predict that a return to the good ole days as far as the nightlife is concerned is now more likely than not. The last few years have seen a dramatic decline in the "sanook" factor thanks to the various restrictions on closing times, "showing" and the like.

More so, nobody knew what the next restriction might be and the industry lived in a constant atmosphere of "there is worse to come".

Now the new Government will be too busy for a long long time to worry about whether farangs can get a beer after midnight or not. Enjoy.

Australian media today was reporting that there would be a protest in central Bangkok today - not a pro-Thaksin protest but a protest against the restrictions imposed by the new Government.

Do any locals have anything on this?

All media has been ordered by ICT to exercise censorship of any news critical of the coup-makers and the new military regime. Offenders face up to six months in jail, a fine of up to Bt10,000, or both.

So.... by implication all posts critical of our new regime will be deleted or else BTF faces legal action which could threaten its existence.
