that's so typical, they come up with a list of alleged achievements and then it turns out that 50% of them were invented by someone else.....ahahah can't even check their facts right. 
why would anyone hate the aussies? hating someone means giving them credit for something or attaching some kind of importance.

I dont dislike all Austrailians, just the ones I have met, along with the ones on here who I have not met.
Why do so many of them have a chip on their shoulder?
I think it is due to a national infeariority complex, so they try to over compensate for it by telling everyone how good they are and what a great place it is, as they drink their beer in Lomdom, Bali or LOS, anywhere else but in Oz!

There are also heaps of other countries that can stand tall on their record of (past & present) cultural, social, politics military, discovery, medicine, science and technological achievements. Mostly are from Europe continent (France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Russia, Spain, Portugal etc.) but quite a few from Asia (China, India, Japan etc.)
Two points on the above,
Firstly England is not an Island
Secondly in terms of countries that can be proud of their achievements you've missed out Scotland. Scots are quite simply the most inventive people in the history of the world. 
Although it is rather harder to defend the fact that they're running the English government at the moment. Well I suppose if the English aren't capable of doing it themselves

Here is the latest
Bans on selling alcohol on Royal family members' B-days lifted
Interior Ministry revokes its order which bans selling of alcohol on the birthdays of Their Majesties the King and Queen and other royal family members.
Sura-art Tongniramon, deputy permanent secretary for interior said that the ministry, has received several complaints from business operators of alcoholic drinks as well as owners of entertainment places that they suffered from the old order.
The ministry decided to revoke the order after being informed by the Royal Household Bureau that it does not have policy to prohibit the sales of the alcoholic drinks on the birthdays of Their Majesties the King and the Queen and those of the royal family members.
The ministry then informed the decision to all governors.
