Who of all the many "Peaceful, Friendly" Muslims have spoken out against the actions of the homicidal bomber terrorists? I have not heard of a single cleric of any stature in the Muslim world decry the multiple murderous actions that have occured worldwide. But I have heard of many who call for more such actions.

Do I think there are secret agreements?

Yes. ÝDo I know what they are? No. ÝThere are secret agreements between most nations. ÝEvery once in a while somebody does an expose and we get to hear about them.

Poskat. ÝI didn't say the Muslims were peaceful or friendly. ÝYou could easily interpret that as what I meant and have been partially right however. ÝSome are some aren't. What I said was the religion itself is peaceful and I have hungout with Muslims who were wonderful people. Ý

This is not meant to condone the actions of Muslims that hi-jack this religion. ÝI have been around a tad and have seen first hand the good side and the bad of this issue. Ý
You may have heard of one of the clerics in Iraq a couple of weeks back speaking of peace. ÝHe's the dude that Sadam offed in his mosque. ÝMade the news in most countries. Ý
Now take the terrorists. ÝThey on the other hand should be dealt with in a manner befitting there actions. ÝMuslims would understand this since they are very old testament. ÝBury one or two with a pigs foot in there mouth thus keeping them out of virgin land and now youve changed the game. ÝTo a person who believes they are going to the promised land and that that is better than their shitty life martyrdome is an incentive to them. ÝIf suddenly they do not ever get to go there the incentive fades. ÝThere are ways to deal with this that do not require nuking mecca. ÝIt may yet come to that but for those of us who have seen death up close and personal know that that must always be a last resort. Ý
No offense but armchair quarterbacks always have simple views. ÝIt is not their blood that spills. ÝThis is not a simple problem. ÝKilling all Muslims would work but it sure is not my choice as a solution. ÝWe have something in my country called a constitution. ÝOne of its tenants is the freedom of religion. ÝThe concepts in that document are worth fighting for to me in any form that takes. ÝEven if that fight protects a Muslim or two.

My constitution and belief system also protect your freedom to speak poskat. ÝWell at least as far as BK allows that. Ý I think we would agree on many things and disagree on many others like the best soapy. But its always interesting. Ý

Speaking of soapies, Im off to wetter pastures. ÝGood hunting. Ý

Great but... Do you think there are any secret cooperation agreements between the USA, Thailand, Mr. EYO and Mr. DD, relative to this eventuality?

asked and answered.
So I assume you are asking for some elaboration.

What branch of the US military has routinely made port of call off Pattaya?
What units of said branch are uniquely equiped for operating covertly in any country?
I know you are a smart dude, after having read many of your posts and can answer these questions yourself.

What I am unclear about is the depth of your question. ÝStrategic or tactical?

If we move up a level from the questions I just possed and the answers you will come up with, the following will be accurate.

Thailand will benefit economically in some big ways. ÝHermanolobo offered very good examples. ÝMost favored nation status is a big deal from a trade perspective. Unfortunately Thais are developing a sence of love for money. ÝThis will change their culture in adverse ways. ÝThats another story.
Now what do they need to achieve this MFN? ÝPlay ball behind closed doors along with moving some #'s around on various sheet of paper. ÝThailand is uniquely situated to strike at the heart of some very extreme terrorist groups. ÝThailand can do this on their own but there is much less risk to Thailand in agreeing to be a stagging area. ÝIf a Thai gets taken captive on a raid, now the Muslims are mad at them. ÝIf on the otherhand a non Thai is capture this is not nearly as damning.
Thais also get some very astute training for some of their counterparts.

I do not possess any secret intelligence. If I did posess secret intelligence it would be a secret. ÝPeople who get those clearances have to sign some pretty serious documentation and go through a rigorous background check. ÝWhen things are "classified" at any level they are compartmentalized so the odds of someone having real secret information and acutally posting it are slim and none.

Political secrecy on the other had is a joke and virtually does not exist. ÝIf agreements exist, and I believe they do, they are at a very high level and unless a very lucky journalist stumbles across the right durian you will never hear about it.

I'm not sure if I have answered your question. ÝI hope I have. Ý
Fact is I have no secret info but I do know how to read a map and therefore know how I would go about hunting the things that go bump in the night. ÝTrainin up with some of the best jungle fighters of all time wouldn't be a bad start.

Although the cleric this article talks about isn't condemning the specific event you mentioned he does advocate the true preachings of the Koran.

Peace...
"somtimes lasting peace can only be found on the otherside of war". ÝNot always though.

Fast

Sheik Palazzi is a great and brave man.  I actually heard him speak in Israel (he says it is the duty of all muslims to wipe out terrorits).  Sheik Palazzi will be the first person to tell you that he is a very very small minority and that his life is in danger every day, and that he has more fatwahs on him then there are female armpit hairs in Rome.

In the here and now, no other religion has so many adherents committing slaughter in the name of that religion.  I have studied the Koran and read it twice and have some serious questions.  But that is relevant.  What does matter is what millions of its adherents believe and what hundreds, if not thousands of its immams are preaching.

Ask yourself this question.  In your home country in the world of 2003, would you rather have people converting to Christianity, Buddhism, and Judiasm, or to Islam.

Before anyone says that Jews and Christians have their fanatics, please site dates and places that Jews and Christians have slaughtered thousands of their own people and others in the name of their religion.  Don't use the Serbs because they did what they did (as well as the Croats and Muslims) in the name of nationalism.

Please folks, forget about Jericho or the Canaanites and the Crusades and the Inquisiton.  Let's stick with 2003.

Cheers

I used Palazzi as a quasi joke. ÝIf you run him through a google search or a yahoo search you will see what I mean. ÝHe has some shaddy sides to him, that is if you believe something just cause its on the net. Maybe he is a good dude. There are some real clerics out there though.

On your question I would prefer Budhism hands down. ÝI am not Budhist at least not yet but true budhism aligns best with my outlook on life. Ý
That is not to say Judaism, Islam or Christianity are wrong. Ý
As a matter of fact until Christ comes along these religions are pretty much the same. ÝA little peak at Roman history fills in the gap for important pagan rituals that appear through all the "old testatment" religions.

The only reason I am not a Budhist is, as I understand it they want all suffering and pleasure to cease to be important. ÝI just can't get past that part. ÝMaybe it just means my understanding is not there yet. ÝKow Jai Mai?

If you mean current history I would be at a loss unless you count the African subcontinent. Ý
I would think the Spanish inquisition might qualify though for a historical perspective. ÝThat started with Pope Gregory the IXth in 1231 or maybe a little before and went well into the 1400's. Ý

Now if only we could learn from history instead of repeating it over and over adinfinitum.

Mr. Deep Diver, you said......."What I am unclear about is the depth of your question.  Strategic or tactical?"

I am afraid it was only satirical.

Here are the three questions I asked.....

No 1. "Do you think there are any secret cooperation agreements between the USA and Thailand relative to this eventuality?"

No 2.  "OK, but....... Do you think there are any secret cooperation agreements between the USA and Thailand and God relative to this eventuality?

No 3.  "Great but... Do you think there are any secret cooperation agreements between the USA, Thailand, Mr. EYO and Mr. DD, relative to this eventuality?

Each time my question gets more ridiculous but still I get serious responses, or as in the case of Q#1, quasi-comedic posts from Mr Expatchuck, Mr. Smegma, and Mr Hermanolobo, tripping over themselves to be satirical.  I am sorry.

Maybe we are a little too serious sometimes.  I know we should be serious about these matters but after a while...........what's the point.

Mr. Deep Diver, and Mr. Kaisersolaten both have good points and seem earnest in your posts, but sometimes, as you can see, it is difficult to seperate the serious from the hilarious.
