Perhaps you have just met the worst of what we have, and I concede that our worst is pretty bloody awefull.
Mel, cheers mate! I will take you up on that drink, but it might have to wait untill March/April, I am also going to put the Ossy theory to the test with another one of you on that trip!
I hope to meet the legend, yep! DG is on my list of things to do before I die!!
I just hope I am able to meet up with him when I am over there.
I will be in LOS for 3 weeks, but 2 of the weeks I will be in Phuket.

I didn’t say what percent of the population of Thailand is "educated."
I also did not say how many people supported, or did not support, the coup.
What I said is that a large percentage of the educated Thais were disappointed that a coup was necessary to change the government. Whether or not in the final analysis they supported the coup, or did not support the coup, is a separate question which I did not address.

Thaid, any feelings of uneasiness lingering in the air, or is it pretty much party time as usual in LOS w/all this going on? does the military presence put a damper on the whole mongering scene at all? have u noticed any slowdown in the available p4p talent out there since this all went down?

Gotcha - and technically speaking, not disagreeing with that statement.
While it is unfortunate that Thaksin allowed things to go so far that a coup was needed to depose him and his government (in effect, losing everything in the process), it also appears obvious that most of these same folks supported the coup. Heck, I have a feeling even Sondhi and his gang feel the same way.
What I just find equally unfortunate are the handful of 'anti-coup' portesters (students, of course) that stage their civil disobedience protests, proclaiming 'no to coup', while at the same time proclaiming 'no to Thaksin', yet none seem capable of offering any alternate suggestions for a course of action to achieve the same goal.
Sometimes, you just gotta reboot!

No presence winding down. Everyone seems to be postering worrying about if their own ass has a job. I expect no hassles for some point until the new government is put into place. One of the reasons for arrests and shutdown of bars showing is to get a promotion at the head office. With everything in a turmoil, I suspect these efforts will be put on the back burner until the police can get credit for some efforts.

One thing that is noticable is the educated Thai's that Mr Alan is so familiar with are quite impressed by the manner of General Sonthi. We has a willingness to answer questions that Thaksin for example would hold up his blue cross for. Of course, his actions will speak larger than his words, but they feel 'safe' in this guy's hands for the time being.
New PM promised within the next week.
