Norwegian tourist falls to his death from 8th floor of Pattaya hotel

Chon Buri - A 64-year-old Norwegian man fell to his death from the balcony of his room of a Pattaya hotel early Wednesday in what believed to be a suicide, police said.
Police said Anatol Gudz fell from his room at the Pattaya Jomthien Hotel at 2 am.
The hotel staffs told police that the man had checked in alone and had been staying at the hotel for a week.

Swiss man found hung in Pattaya

Chon Buri - A 60-year-old Swiss man was found hung in a house in this seaside town Thursday.
The body of Steineer Rolf Anton was found by his younger sister in a house in Bang Lamung district.
The sister said Anton has been living at the house for four years.
She said she arrived Thailand last week to take care of her brother.
She said her brother developed stress and his Thai girlfriend had left him, and this might be the reason that prompted him to commit suicide.

Terminal illness: AoT's medical burden
Suvarnabhumi airport's problems go beyond complaints about long immigration lines, dirty toilets and staff not smiling enough to include others of a more pressing financial nature.
The airport is facing a rising number of foreign travellers who fall seriously ill on their journeys, and even a few who have chosen the passenger terminal to commit suicide.
Since opening in September 2006, Suvarnabhumi has seen at least six suicide attempts. Two of them have been successful, the most recent one being an Iranian.
Hundreds of foreign passengers passing through the airport have fallen seriously ill or suffered accidents, requiring immediate medical attention.
Many are treated at either Suvarnabhumi's own clinic or transferred to Samitivej Srinakarin, the private hospital that jointly offers medical services at the airport with Airports of Thailand (AoT), until they are fit enough to travel to their homelands.
That may sound normal, but what makes it an issue is the growing number of travelling foreign patients who refuse to pay their bills, and their countries simply deny any responsibility.
AoT's Medical Department said that as of 2010, a total of 59 foreign patients had not paid bills amounting to a combined 20 million baht.
That includes two attempted suicides _ a Bangladeshi man last May and a Russian man in August 2009 _ who survived but ran up medical bills totalling 850,000 and 302,000 baht, respectively.... More

Thats a good question. I've always thought Western authorities do not allow suicides to be reported in the media as vulnerable youth tend to copy their peers. If suicide is reported they may also see it as an 'easy out' rather than seek help
Much the same as the extremist Muslims recruiting young suicide bombers. Are there any ever aged under 25?
Perhaps Thailand has no such restictions on the media so they just tell it how it is

That shoulda read "are there any ever aged over 25?"  ie they always recuit the brain washed easily led youngsters to do their dirty work

Yeah, weird that, when I was <25 I wouldn't have been easily brain washed - I knew everything f***ing thing already!

On the Flip side the obvious amount of westerners deciding to die there (albiet some are murder perhasp)
The reality P4p long term often brings a sitution forward on both sides-
Thai woman sometimes dumped lament too much the "hopelessness of returning to work" and the loss of face-
Some might even really experience heart break-
(they too sometimes jump)
But for most its like a stock crash and worse - all the stocks were with the male provider-
Sure some have won already enough assets to be ok-
For men its just all to messy to go on-
many have realizations that the dick has entrapped them and true love will elude them- old tied or broke and dispaired - often high - they jump-
Sometimes a Thai will help proceedings -
But there is no question - walking the sois of Pattaya you can see far away faces of men mostly in their late 50s to late 60s just "doing time"
Punctuated with a pleasuring of the testes and some idle company - a tune to recall younger days-
Some use the alcohol to see out its natural course and time sweep them away eventually -
Some just wait til things seem right pop a few extra pills (medication or otherwise) some just wait till the salty sea breeze at 1am in the morning hushes a lullaby too sweet to resist and from their tenth floor den the verandha rail is climbed and for a few beautiful moments they take flight free of sin and going home to jesus-
Sad eh?
Every week one does so-
But thats really a very small percentage compared to to the majority that are fullfilling some expectations and more- creating devilish memories that will entertain them in old age-
maybe even retire with a female who is young enough to be a daughter?
What - ever the state of play - "east meets west is an explosive adventure and life is not boring_
