Pretty good avice, I'd have to say. Flu vaccines (see my prior diatribes) are generally a waste. COme flu season, a good portion of my friends get flu vaccination shots (baaaah!), and I don't. We both come down with the flu within a few weeks, regardless of our vaccination status. It lasts 2-3 days with me. It lasts a week with them. Simplest of remedies, when you know how your body works, and how the virus works. Heat kills it. So, at the onset of symptoms, I take one day off from work, drink a TON of liquids (soup, tea, water), pop two aspirin, and wrap myself up in 3 layers of sweats, and my down comforter, and try to sleep as much as possible. It gets highly uncomfortable after a while (sweat drenched), but invariably I get up the next day and I'm fine. Yeah, 1-2 days of excessive blowing of the nose, and expectorating follows, but that's normal getting rid of the crap that invaded you. Most virii can only live within a small window of biological and temperate opportunity in your body, hence part of the reason why having a fever works. If you can assist your body in creating a hotter temperature, or artificially keep your core temperature higher, you effectively 'kill' the virus in your system, more or less. I found it to be better than any 'vaccine' or any sort of 'family recipe', though more time consuming - which is the lure of the vaccines (the magic bullet, or magic pill, that does not require any additional work or downtime -- too bad it doesn't work Harry

This is interesting. I have some friends who spent a lot of time in Mexico. There they told me the advice is if you have the flu, don't wash, don't change your clothes and stay in bed. The important thing is that your body temperature does not fluctuate. So it seems to on the same lines as your advice. It's not looking too good This is from CNN web page this morning: Crisis talks as flu hits Bangkok Wednesday, January 28, 2004 Posted: 0603 GMT ( 2:03 PM HKT) BANGKOK, Thailand (CNN) -- Health experts are meeting in Bangkok for crisis talks on the bird flu, as reports indicate parts of the Thai capital are set to be declared "danger zones." Experts are hoping to come up with a global strategy to tackle the crisis, which has hit ten nations, killed at least ten people and led to the slaughter of tens of millions of chickens.

On 'Farming Today' the other morning on UK TV they were claiming 'bird-flu' had got into the wild bird population. Whilst human contact is unlikely with wild birds there is greater difficulty to irradicate the disease and a greater chance of spreading it !
