the latest poll suggested this outcome (sorry, havbe no current percentage) - see the nations website for more info - since they are not allowed to post names with election polls (applies to all the press) you see what are the terms for the candidates used on the nations website and who is ment (anyone living in BKK has no problem telling anyway)

Apirak won with 40% of the vote.
Governor elections are every 4 years.
I wouldn't say Thaksin is on his way out yet. He stills enjoys majority support throughout the rest of Thailand. His party also has 365 seats in the 500 seat Parliament. His goal is to have 400 seats by next election. I certainly hope he doesn't reach that goal but I'm betting that he ends up with more Parliament seats than less after next election.

I would not bet on that, I think the bangkok election where a first prove that the peple of thailand do not let themselfes being manipulated by Mr Thaksin any longer. After all he issued orders for people who work for him to vote for Paveena.
I would think that the next election are probably still his, but I would take up a bet that he looses some seats in the Parliament.
