That you will not have to worry about. The US has an election this November and odds are very strong the party who oppose Bush Jr. will control the commitee to subpeona the White House. He has loads of troubles ahead, including impeachment hearings (the US press is being mum about that until they know who really wins THAT election).

There may be a 'Silver Lining' in this cloud. If this is indeed the BKK elite's solution to the current political situation, any civilian leadership that is put in place after the coup will be representive of that group. As this group is pro-farang (as Thais go) there will be less pandering to the huddled masses via nationalistic retroric. That being the case some of the current immigration polices will probably be set aside for at time and possibly reviewed as to its effects on business and tourism. At the very worst the new government will be too busy consolidating their power to worry about counting stamps, or days, or whatever is was they were planning to count starting 1 October. In all I am still bullish on LOS...

The ministry of foreign affairs is up and running ( MFA ), Stickman is up and running ( STICK ), ThaiVisa is up and running ( ThaiVisa -- This one has pictures ), Bangkok Chat is up and running ( BKKCHAT ), Even BKK TEEN is up and it was not up last week ( BKKTEEN ), It seems to me that if there is an attempt to control information it is not being done by a blanket shutdown. Having been through several of these type situations my advice (IMHO) is to: Believe nothing you have heard unless you have seen it yourself, Do not pass on any informtion you have not verified yourself, and most important -> Keep in the shadows until the locals sort out their issues. Barkeep, rack up another beer for me and my gal...
