Some parts were demolished at least 6 weeks ago. They actually destroyed the whole concrete concourse so nobody could rebuild. Just on the north edge of the animal section. I'd say space for approx 200 stalls. I have photographs edit: just checked the photographs - taken 19th November 2006

Could it be confusion caused by the demolition of Bo Bae Market ? Read on.............. Report from Bangkok Post dated Saturday 6 January 2006 :- 25 arrested in Bo Bae clash - Force used to break up market protest ========================================= Angry Bo Bae market vendors yesterday clashed with city police, with 25 of them ending up arrested, in a final attempt to protest against the market's relocation. The ruckus was broken up after a 15-hour long demonstration in which more than 400 Bo Bae vendors blocked Kasatsuek Bridge from Thursday, demanding the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) remove garbage trucks from the market area so that they could set up their stalls. They accused City Hall, which ordered the market's relocation, of parking the trucks there as part of its attempts to evict them. The vendors' road blockade led to severe traffic congestion on several city roads, prompting police to employ tough measure to disperse them. Around 600 police officers, thetsakij city police, and a riot control unit took up positions on a road in front of Huachiew General Hospital yesterday before marching to nearby Bo Bae - Bangkok's largest wholesale garment market - to clear the demonstrators. Hundreds of vendors reacted by bombarding the officers with water bottles and chairs. Some shouted angrily at officers, who were ordered to stand guard around the clock. They said police actions aggravated their suffering after part of the market caught fire on Dec 29, 2006. One woman vendor ran onto the street, in an apparent attempt to commit suicide. The vendors' efforts, however, were to no avail as police eventually forced them out of the market. Police arrested 25 vendors on charges of injuring state officers, and causing chaos and traffic congestion. Deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Division 6 Supisan Pakdeenaruenat also filed a separate charge against 38-year-old vendor Kamkul Nontasiri, accused of hitting him in the face during the riot. ''She dared to injure me despite the fact that I was in uniform and carrying out a mission,'' Pol Col Supisan said. However, Ms Kamkul denied the charge, claiming that she had only tried to defend herself and was not aware her hand was going to hit the officer's face. After the vendors were dispersed, City Hall quickly sent two excavators to the area to start landscaping work. The BMA wants around 1,000 vendors to move out of the area because their stalls cause an eyesore, block traffic, and have hindered the city's plan to turn the area into a public park. The vendors have been asked to relocate to a new market nearby, developed by Pattana Saphan Khao Co, but they have been reluctant to do so for fear of lower sales and higher rental fees. They had also asked Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin to allow them to do business at the old site for another one or two years. The city set a deadline for them to move out in early December of last year. ''We hope all sides will understand our stance. The problem has gone on for a long time and we don't want it to worsen,'' said Mr Apirak.

Bo Bae is in a totally different area of Bangkok, one simply cant think he is in Chatuchak and be in bo bea, even VERY drunk. It seem all the markets of Bangkok are being or destroyed or "relocated", now I read that Suan Lum is scheduled for demolition by april... Madfrog
