Well this will be interesting when Thaksin arrives today around 9.30 am Local time Now the Suvarnabhumi Airport will be the place not to be. It was 17 months ago that the Military topped his Government Mr Thaksin, after he makes it out of the expected airport chaos and hero worship, is expected to turn himself in to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions. He faces charges related to the 772-million-baht Ratchadapisek land deal. His wife Potjaman already is out on bail in the same case. Will he get off, what do you Guys think?

Both cases will be dismissed after the current government extends an amnesty - of what passes for one - in the interest of 'uniting the country'.

When in Bangkok, Thaksin wants to get a haircut, a massage and eat noodles,
I wonder if he needs BTF's advice on MP's that give a happy ending?

Really? But he promised that he is done with politics. That he won't have anything to do with politics. EVAH! Then again, pulling strings, as a private 'consultant' isn't really politics, I guess - and far easier to keep your nose clean to let others do your dirty work. Nicely played, Mr. Thaksin - though the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

You're right - though sadly almost 99% of all girls we meet in the semi-blue-collar environment support Thaksin. Essentially, if Samak had not associated himself with Thaksin, he would most likely have gotten close to zero votes. It's very, very clear that a vote for Samak was a vote for Thaksin. I noted this when talking with some office girls during the election, and upon asking who they voted for, the answer was invariably the same (in hushed tones) "the former prime minister". When I pointed out that he's not one of the candidates, I was told "Mr. Samak, he same same vote for Thaksin". In all fairness, a brilliant gambit for Thanksin, but essentially Samak is just a total tool in all of this, and not only does he know it, but the press pretty much knows it as well. The sad part is that I'd rather have Thaksin as PM, than Samak - not sure about anybody else's impressions, but Samak strikes me as a real idiot - and a lot of the housecleaning taking place now, demonstrates that the primary agenda right now seems to be enacting vengeance against remnants of the prior gov't. Strategically,I don't blame either Samak (well, he's just a puppet) or even Thaksin. In fact, Thaksin played this round brilliantly (if he had shown such brilliance while being PM, he'd still be in power) - if I had to blame anyone, it's the prior military gov't - they had EVERY chance to step in, fix things that were screwed up, and make the people their ally -- instead, they had clearly no plan and no vision for what to do after they kicked out Thaksin, and sadly within too short a while, it was just the usual keystone cops politics. Then again, it's not like we have much to look forward from the Samak gov't -- though it does make for amusing entertainment. Would be fun if this were to be played to its ultimate conclusion - which would involve Samak getting himself into trouble and getting kicked off, or having to resign, and the PPP then turning to Thaksin for 'help' to step in and fix things, ending up with him in his old position. I mean, after all, 'caretaker' PMs are assigned, not elected, right?
