Only time will tell, but in the mean time, it's still dry over here in Sukhumvit area, and there are lots of beers to go around, I've not had anyone tell me they are out of stock. Well, my favorite beer right now is San Miguel Light.

You're not that lucky... still lots of beers to go around. And with fewer tourist, we simply have more beer to drink!

COULD (the keyword here) dry in 11 days....
Instant noodle, rice, and eggs are plenty at the stores now. I see one local brand drinking bottle at Tops today @ Bt8 per bottle (have not seen this brand before either). There are plenty Evian, Fiji, and Vittel brand...so worse case scenario is to pay high price for these brand....
So food (not all items are avail) and drinking water are good...

"There might be over 3 million tons of garbage left over in Bangkok after the floods," Deputy Director General Warasart Apaipong of the Pollution Control Department told CNN. "Five hundred thousand cars might need to be junked, as they would produce toxin wastes from their batteries and engine oil."
Concerns about disease spreading are also growing. The country's Ministry of Public Heath has distributed 20,700 test kits for leptospirosis, a severe bacterial infection that can affect areas where water has been stagnant for more than three weeks.
--> Water quality in some areas is also being affected, according to Bangkok resident Anisha Prachaseri, while other newer dangers are presenting themselves.
"People have been buying many more bottles of water than normal as there's a problem with tap water, which has been contaminated with floodwaters after it leaked into the pipes," she said.
--> "The situation is quite serious. The water is making ground slowly but surely towards the heart of Bangkok," flood relief co-ordinator Rungsun Munkong told CNN.
Relief workers, distributing aid to evacuation centers in central Bangkok, said they were struggling to reach residents determined to wait out the crisis in tower blocks. "I think it will be difficult down the road to get help to these people," Rungsun said.
That last bit tells us, nowhere is safe.

In other words, this coming from the Thai govt, we can expect a real time-frame of another month or two before it's over?
Also, just because the water will be gone, doesn't mean things will be "dry" and back to "normal".
Whatever damages caused by the water will take a while to fix... and there's the disease factors.

If I am in the flooded areas, I dont think I will stay there. Alot working Thais (the one that work in the office that I know of) in flooded areas are now rent a home in another area for a month or two or move back to their home town...b/c they can work from home.
Oh, alot hotels in BKK, Pattaya, and Hua Hin have 50-70% discount b/c the flood crisis...do tourists also get the discount or not?...we got about 60% off when we go to Hua Hin about a week ago....I see alot comments saying that which the discount still too expensive to common Thai.

Assoc Prof Dr Seri Suparathit of Rangsit University Centre on Climate Change and Disaster, in a daily flood report on Thai PBS noted:
It is highly unlikely that Bangkok will be dry within 10 days as there are still 900 million cubic metres of water mass to be managed above Bangkok while on the westen front (Thonburi) there are about 1,000 million cubic metres waiting to flow in.
Dr Seri gave the reason that when floodwater creeps into Bangkok, the area is getting flatter and flatter and thus the water travels even slower than anticipation. Even if BMA's drainage capacity can drain Bangkok dry within 10 days, it does not mean that floodwater will be there to be drained off completely by that timeframe.
It is now accepted that Big Bag helps slow the inflow. It is a wise decision to allow two gaps to let some water in as this will lessen the suffering for those above Big Bag as Khlong Bang Sue, which receives floodwater from Khlong Lat Phrao, Khlong Prem Pachakorn as well as from Vibhavadi canals on both sides, can manage to pump the floodwater into Chao Phraya river very well.
If the BMA wants to dry Bangkok quicker, Big Bag gaps must be widened to allow more inflow. But BMA must install more pumps at Khlong Bang Sue to manage the increasing inflow rate. If pumps break down, expect to see floodwater overflowing the canal to travel down to Victory Monument to be met by Khong Sam Sen, restricting even more road space. So it is a balancing act right now.
Good news that Chulalongkorn sluice gate water level continues to decline as well as at other gates.
Also good news is that once any flooded area stabilises, the flood level will never rise up again as there is less and less water mass above Bangkok to be managed day by day.
What is worrying is that Khlong Saen Saep above Khlong Bang Chan sluice gate is overflowing banks due to narrowing sluice gate even though the gate is opened fully. The water level below the sluice gate is nearly one metre lower than above it. Bang Chan Industrial Estate floodwall is 1.5 metres high, but the floodwater level is now near one metre, very risky. Do whatever possible to expedite waterflow along various canals surrounding the estate.
Lat Krabang Industrial Estate is now facing floodwater at the level of about 50-80 cm and overflowing into the estate road itself. However, all factories are protected by floodwalls as high as 3 metres.
On Thon Buri side, flood head has yet to reach Rama II Rd proper but nearby areas see rising water. The water will come and expect to flood the road in a few days.
