Saw highlights of the Sydney fireworks on the Thai tv news. Nice.

I saw the Pattaya fireworks live. No sanitised family friendly display here, just the usual Thai bedlam with rockets and bangers going off all over the place from sunset until new year's day along with hundreds of floating lanterns. Soi 7 was a madhouse with bangers frequently stopping all traffic. Impossible to make yourself heard with all the din. Pattaya's disorganised display must have lasted a good 6 hours or so.

I know which display I prefer - the unorganised chaos, danger, and fun that was Pattaya.
