A friend asked me the other day, "what did people use in the old days for toilet paper and hankerchiefs". My answer was short, "F..... if I know".
Since then it has become a bit of an obsession to find out, so I look to other members in this 'College of knowledge' for some credible answers.
Google revealed the Chinese made it for the emperors in 1391AD and was commercially made in New York in the 1870's, but what did the common people use prior to this. Bark of a tree was suggested, maybe that is why we do not have many trees these days, or a hand full of straw. Just wondering what you people think.
