Might be worth mentioning to anyone not upto scratch, you should be very careful with the upstairs Patpong bars, especially if you are asking for
Live Sex Shows. I have been around a bit, and even as recently as last year I was caught out in an upstairs bar. Usual tout assured me no extra, just drink, no pay show. Sat there with TG for 2 drinks each and bill was over 2000, also having to pay tips to the extremely pushy girls who participated in each show. When I refused to pay, some really scary looking mamasan appeared from nowhere accompanied by two slim Thai guys who would probably have beaten the shit out of me with little persuasion. I politely refused, gave my reasons and my TG used her mobile to phone her Police friend. Usual scam - they said tout was not employed by the bar. I gave the woman 700 Bht for the drinks, told her that was fair and if she was not happy she would have to kill me first. She wouldn't let us leave, and used her phone to speak to someone else in an agitated fashion. After 5 minutes, she said ok, ok - you can leave. Conclusion - I will never visit an upstairs Patpong bar again, unless I know the bar or am accompanied by someone who does.

The same thing happened to me about 20+ years ago when we were "encouraged" to go to an upstairs bar at Patpong to watch some"live" sex show..... I can't remember we were "forced" to pay but it was an incredible huge sum..... we refused to pay and the door was blocked by 2 burly guys.... I told them that if they still refuse to let out out I will call my Pol. Col friend about this.... on hearing this they promptly opened the door to let us out
