Sarge
Tagalog is not a dialect but rather the national language of Philippines.

How are you?:
Kumaste po kayo (polite, using the "po" with older and higher status people)
Kumaste ka na (everyday use, can be shortened to "'muzta")

I'm fine and you?:
Mabuti po naman, ikaw? (remember the "po" rule, take it out when speaking to a younger person or lower status)

Thank you
Salamat po (as above)

What is your name?
Ano po ang pangalan nila? (polite)
Anong pangalan mo? (informal)

I am Sarge
Ako po si Sarge (polite)

I see "the stalker" is still around and has learnt to copy from translation books, well done Sarge.See, your time in Australia has expanded your intellect already.
Next thing you know you will be able to purchase an aeroplane ticket all by yourself and piss off to a place you like.

Smiles
Mel.

not quite mate; those are standard polite phrases that everyone can learn when exposed to a new language or visiting a foreign country for a few times. No big deal and no need of translation books. Anyone with a modicum of brain can memorise a few stock phrases after a few visits. On the other hand, there're some simpletons accustomed to bargirl speak who use that as a pointer to sophisticated behaviour. Maybe they should drink less and think more, to avoid making an arse of themselves on the forum.

Please continue while I add a tidbit from Wikipedia which admittedly is not infallible:

The Filipino language, which is based on Tagalog and other existing Filipino languages, is designated by the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines as the national language. The constitution designates both Filipino and English as official languages. More than 170 languages are spoken in the Philippines and almost all of them belong to the Borneo-Philippines languages group of the Austronesian language family.

And now back to our previously interupted testosterone contest....

Whether you find big dicks, Little Richard's or girls from the Philippines in Cosmos is really beside the point.

There are some nice girls in there and the place is relaxed, plays good music and is not pushy.
There is definitely a regular crowd in there who know what's what in watering-holes and in other holes additionally.

Occasionally, I go to Cosmos, but not to play with myself.

Sarge, I'll paste a few bits here for your education.

dialect words + Borrowed Foreign Words

Filipino is the combination of Tagalog (the original dialect from which most words of Filipino are based), words from local dialects (The Philippines has a LOT of dialects like Bisaya (Visaya), Ilokano, and Kapampangan

How to Learn Key Phrases in Tagalog. Tagalog is the main dialect of the Philippines

Cor, and you had to search online for the semantic difference between national language and dialect and still can't get it? that sums you up, really... lol 555, I thank you for the morning laughs. It's clear that you had to seek information on initial statement spouted out of (alcoholic) ignorance rather than knowledge.

Mel, all these "national language... dialect... embedded in the Constitution, etc.." are just too big words for you. Stick to bargirl speak, pidgin English spoken back home, and you'll feel more comfortable. The rest of your post, because of your mangled cut&paste job, doesn't make much sense; but hey nothing new here. Of course being sober when posting it does really help, mate you should give it a try sometimes.

Sarge, I don't think its nice wrecking other peoples threads.
Perhaps our discussion would be better in a thread of its own,, a lot of people here would agree on it's tiltle
" Sarge and Mels sand-pit", we can argue over who gets the tip-truck there, OK

Mel
P.S Apologies to the people who actually wanted to discuss Cosmos in the Cosmos thread.
