Well ! Here we are in the month of March again.
A holiday period for a lot of people in Thailand, especially the youth when the academic year finishes and 16 to 18 year olds take some time off or drift into available jobs only to find that the work is too demanding, too long and with little pay.......... a matter of days or weeks before they begin thinking of leaving for the big cities and some to try their hand (?) at the 'tourist' industry..............or the older ones in the family, aged 19 to 27, having stuck around to support and be with and look after the younger siblings to see them through school, before they too can move on.
Then you have the Thai summer period and the family gatherings in and around Songkhran which either help to keep families together or to bust them up,just like any other National holiday in any part of the world when family frictions arise between members who are not used to being together for even the shortest periods of time and far reaching decisions are instantly made.
Then again, you also have the ladies who have spent a year or two embedded (?) in the sex industry deciding to either move on or return home or settle down somewhere.
And then there's the group of ladies who see the younger ones moving into the bars and decide its time to make that move for a year or two to Singapore, Ho Chi Min City, Hong Kong or Japan or if they are exceptionally lucky, to farangland for a short while..
This makes the months of March, April, May and June to be the months which see the largest movements and re-locations of people here in Thailand, or at least that is my impression.
Having sad that, this is also the period of time in which you will come across the most people on the move, possibly not staying in one place for very long, either back home or in a temporary job or staying with relatives before moving on to somewhere else.
My reason for entering this post in the BG locator thread is in the hope of seeing less entries either in this particular thread or dotted in and around other threads of pleas from guys trying to find someone they met for a couple of hours/a day/night/week and have no contact details for them.
This thread is filled with suggestions as to how to keep in touch or find someone and the info you need to re-establsh contact.
Even if you know and are certain that you have no intention of seeing this particular girl again, get the phone number and as many details as you can.
Why ?
Because, like other guys, maybe something will occur between you that later you wish to pursue. It may be a chemistry that you were not so aware of at the time, or a missing wallet from your room, or a present of an STD that you have found yourself left with or a re-occuring memory or dream that you need to exorcise.
Even a Thai Private Eye has to have something to go on if you can afford him. I don't know if they are expensive in their fees and costs or reasonable.
But even he knows that some official channels, even if open to bribery in the normal course of events, like the registration offices for IDs, marriages, births, government offices or the police, will block any attempt by anyone, even their own, to access information if they are uncertain as to or suspicious of the purpose.

One way I have used for years is to keep a file in my e-mail acount of all my contacts, phone numbers, addresses etc and update it regularly as soon as I get a new piece (?) and send it to myself.

Or if you have AIS (i.e. 1-2-call), you can go into the AIS office at Suk Soi 23 and they will store your address book in their system (can be restored if you need a replacement SIM card) and they can also give you a printout of your entire address book.

Yeah, but as implied some girls get a little nervous whipping out their ID card on the first date... Some don't, but some do... Not because they may be too young, but because they may not want you to see how old they are... Others are a little shy of their first name, believe it or not, maybe it's old fashioned sounding to them, and also it can occasionally be a bit personal to provide that suddenly to a man.
PS I mean you have to admit, if a girl you just met wanted to scan your passport, wouldn't you be tempted to say No thanks...

I have been doing this for years....but I would highly recommend that you use an encryption routine for the sensitive data (something like PGP) before you store online. It is easy to use, safe and secure.

Best to keep independent records of hard copy. Sister's #. Mum's #. Friend's #. Husband's #. Probation officer's #, masseusse's #, hairdresser's #, etc.
Home address as well as Bangkok apartment address.

Hours later we are out at a pub & I go to the can. Left my phone, didn't I?
Ex proceeded to call thai numbers in my phone, starting in the received call registers, and got stuck into anyone that was female.
That night she ripped into two mate's GFs, a nice GTG penfriend of mine, a couple of new GFs before I got the phone from her.

damn, I wish I'd known that when I was living in BKK, I went to that office at Banchang Glas Hous twice in six months
