One of the owners is a post-op ladyboy, but, as far as I know they have never had, or so I've been told, a ladyboy as mama-san, or let a ladyboy solicit drinks from the customers. There are one or two they let hang around the door, but I don't know if they are on the payroll. I could always be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. OTOH, when the other owner, and brains of the operation, is out of the country, anything is possible.

It doesn't matter where you are, Europe, Southeast Asia, or South America, the bar girl game is fundamentally the same all around the world.
I made the first couple of trips to Thailand with a younger colleague who has made the journey many times in the past. He took me around and "showed me the ropes," introduced me to many people, and this gave me a running "head start" over someone who has never before been to the land of smiles. For this I own him a debt I don't know how I can ever repay. However, I was half a world away from home f_cking bar girls while he was still in elementary school. Different country, different language and culture, but once you walk through those bar doors, it is "same, same."

I have the strange feeling reading your posts than you count yourself as friends with everybody in such a place as AW as well as knowing all girls inside out.
